I absolutely enjoy it. Everyone did a great job . This was great combination. I would love to see them all work again on another project. I cant believe this a 7.2 rating on here... thats way too low!
The storyline was good. All the characters did a good job . I do feel like when going into a another episode there was something missing.. its like it just jump right into a different scene.. The flow of moving from each segment could've been much better . Also I would have love to seen the last episode. I would love to see more from the two main characters. The chemistry was all smiles and enjoying :)
USA tuning in. Great work overall.

Plot Summary:
Zheng Shu Yi (Bai Lu) is a pretty, brilliant and hard-working 25-year-old reporter who hopes to write the front-page article of the Financial Vision magazine for at least the 9th time. And her ticket to scoring the latest cover article is to land an interview with the CEO of a venture capital company, 27-year-old Shi Yan (Dylan Wang), who, as it happens, has taken an interest in her, insisting the magazine send her to interview him.
Before that happens, her boyfriend dumps her for a girl surnamed Qin whose uncle owns impressive cars with impressive plate numbers. Having found out that Shi Yan has a niece with a surname of Qin and that he owns a roll royce with an an imposing plate number, Shu Yi concludes that her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend is the niece of Shi Yan.
Armed with a desire to use her rejection as fuel to succeed in her career as well as with her dream of upgrading the online version of Financial Vision magazine, Shu Yi pursues Shi Yan to get him to agree to a series of interviews for the online magazine. That is, as she makes herself believe. But might she be harboring some other reason for pursuing the handsome aloof bachelor?
For some mysterious reason of his own that will be revealed later, the cold CEO, who would have spurned such advances from any other girl, humored Shu Yi. Frequently thrown in each other's company due to the interviews as well as their jobs, they develop a deeper bond that propels them into a rocky journey of growth necessary to bring about a lasting and happy relationship where honesty and effective communication prevail.
Review: This drama is character-driven thus requires a good understanding of the characters to be thoroughly appreciated. Skipping scenes would jar one's ability to be drawn into the characters and understanding them. In addition, skipping scenes could make one miss the campy spoofing feel throughout the drama, such as Shu Yi's pursuit of Shi Yan, the blind-leading-the-blind attempts of Shu Yi's cocksure but clueless best friend to give her advice, Shi Yan's seeming ability to hear Shu Yi's thoughts which could be a device to show they are on the same wavelengths, the phone conversations that everyone in the room can hear, the phone interruptions, the over-the-top riding clothes and many more. Those who recognize the campy humor in these situations would laugh. Those who don't would grumble.
Therefore, if you skip scenes or don't pay attention to the story, don't blame the writer or director if you can't find, much less understand, the plot.
This drama does not describe characters by having somebody directly point out that, say, Shu Yi is brilliant or that Shi Yan is a visionary. The drama SHOWS the audience, another reason skipping scenes is a no-no.
Shu Yi is not the conventional sensible-can-do-no-wrong cdrama female lead. She is smart, kind, friendly, playful, a good sweet daughter, hard-working, cannot be bribed and stays cool when a conniving work rival plays dirty tricks against her. But having been pampered by her parents, she is spoiled, self-centered and not above using people to attain her goals. Most of all, the drama shows her tendency to lie, causing her to do things contrary to what she feels and to make excuses to avoid facing up to the consequences of inappropriate actions.
It is intentional that Shu Yi sometimes throws ethics to the wind. Those who think smart people never do stupid things have unrealistic expectations of people. A lot of intelligent people make unwise decisions. Shu Yi's ethical lapses are part and parcel of the story which is unique to one particular reporter who does some things she should not do. So, complaints about degrading her profession are terribly misplaced. It is highly improbable that the drama would make viewers think reporters do this sort of thing all the time. In fact, that's why this story is told - it deals with a unique character.
I understand why Bai Lu bravely took on this role. Shu Yi would have been a challenge to portray because not doing her right could have made her obnoxious. I was amused at her flaws, scrapes and outrageousness, indicating Bai Lu portrayed her well.
Shi Yan is another complex character. The viewers' first impression of him is his stoic demeanor which is the amalgamation of his reserved and taciturn nature plus his upbringing and grooming to take over a company that would have made him resolute about appearing proper and older than his age at all times. The business scenes show how intelligent, competent and forward-thinking he is by letting us see how he handles meetings with business associates and how he chooses business partners. For example. He concurs with a startup's philosophy to put quality of technology ahead of production. These scenes also show the challenges he faces from senior executives who undermine his capability to lead the company due to his youth and inexperience. To delineate his sincerity in helping startups, the drama shows us that through thick and thin, he stands by a struggling chip producer he has been helping to establish. He gets personally involved in the chip industry and time and again defends his company's stand to finance the startup.
The business scenes also show how compatible the leads are in terms of interests and values. They are both hard-working. Shi Yan's passion to give back to society by helping startups is matched by Shu Yi's passion to make a contribution to society by creating an online version of her company's magazine that would allow more people access to information about finance. They both agree in doing the right things such as when Shi Yan, with Shu Yi's support, refuses to work with a corrupt battery manufacturer.
As he gets to know Shu Yi better, Shi Yan unlocks other parts of his personality - his thoughtfulness and dependability, his gentle and caring nature, his jealousy and his vulnerability that he only shows in her presence. Reserved by nature, Shi Yan's love is shown through his actions - making sure Shu Yi has eaten or has a ride home, even cooking for her. He is a natural nurturer, the best person who can help a spoilt girl in her journey to maturity.
This drama also shows how lack of communication can exacerbate couple issues. This is another hurdle the leads must face and overcome. Those who are intently watching would actually welcome a rift between the leads to knock some sense into Shu Yi. She has a lot of growing up to do and Shi Yan is prepared to take that journey with her as long as she wants to. All he wants is to love her, if she wants that love. What hurts him, more than the thought that she used him, is the thought that she loves another man. He is heartbroken as he muses, "what you wanted was never me". Though it devastates him, he loves her too much to force her to be with him while she is unsure of her feelings. So he lets her go and gives her space and time to sort her feelings out.
One of the things I admire about this drama is how subtle it showed Shu Yi's growth. She was self-centered before she met Shi Yan. She treated her ex-boyfriend like a driver, choosing to do an interview rather than celebrate his birthday with him. When he broke up with her, it was her pride more than her heart that was hurt. Shi Yan's unselfishness must have rubbed off on her. When she received her bonus, the first thing she thought of was to buy her parents gifts. When Shi Yan blocked her, she did not try to make excuses for what she did as what a spoiled child would have done. She felt guilty and remorseful thus felt resigned to losing him. She remembers Shi Yan's loving care and was ready to talk to him in person. When she saw him with another girl, she most probably took that as punishment for what she did and accepted the heartbreak. When news of Shi Yan's shareholders broke out, she first thought of Shi Yan's feelings instead of the effect the news would have on her online magazine. When she finally broke down, she did not care that her fierce work rival was there to witness her anguish. She did not whine or complain about her heartache but got sick due most probably to intense mental and psychological pain.
But the starkest manifestation of Shu Yi's growth was that, when her relationship with Shi Yan stabilized, she stopped lying.
Finally, to complete this multi-dimensional characterization of Shu Yi and Shi Yan, one needs a good idea of the world they're living in. Their friends, families, work, hobbies and other activities provide that additional dimension to their world.

I see haters are already at work trying to malign this drama. Not just here, I'm seeing hate videos on Youtube too. Unfortunately, this happens in the world of Chinese dramas where producers are blackmailed into paying up, otherwise their dramas are defamed on social media. Apparently, the producer of this drama did not give in to blackmail, thus flaws were invented or those that are common in cdramas and would largely be ignored were exaggerated with this drama. The attacks got propagated to other sites including international ones.
But don't let haters keep you from enjoying this delightful rom-com.
Only For Love is about a beautiful and smart but rather quirky reporter, Zheng Shuyi (Bai Lu), and a hotshot mysterious young CEO, Shi Yan (Dylan Wang), who requests to be interviewed by Shuyi to publicize the vision of his venture capital company to help startups achieve their full potential. Shuyi has just caught her boyfriend cheating on her with a girl she mistook for Shi Yan's niece. Her boyfriend breaks up with her for the girl who promised to help him with his career. With her pride shaken, Shuyi decides to flirt with Shi Yan, seemingly to get back at her ex-boyfriend and to allow her to conduct a series of interviews with the much sought after bachelor CEO. Their constant meetings lead to romance. But what would Shi Yan feel when he knows the truth about Shuyi's reasons for pursuing him?
Shuyi is not the usual type of female lead in Chinese dramas. She is brilliant when it comes to work. But outside of it, she is somewhat clueless. Self-centered and shameless too. Her clumsy pursuit of Shi Yan is hilarious, showing how out of character she is at playing a seductress. But is it all play-acting? Might this seductress have fallen in love with her prey?
Shi Yan is being hailed on social media as the Chinese Mr. Darcy with his reserved and stoic demeanor as well as the dashing figure he cuts especially in a riding outfit. But he's also got a charm all his own. When he smirks at Shu Yi's clumsy attempts at seduction or when he looks at her with all the affection and sexual tension he oftentimes has a hard time keeping under wraps, your heart wouldn't be able to help dancing with excitement.
There might be some cultural challenges that could impact a non-Chinese viewer's understanding of the drama. For example, the joke about the cake in Shi Yan's uncle's dinner feast started with Shuyi mischievously texting "making love' to her ex-boyfriend's query about what she was doing. But when she noticed Shi Yan watching her composing the text, she changed her text to "making cake". The misunderstanding arose due to some texts not being subtitled. In addition, it seems "eat cake" has some sexual connotation in Chinese culture. So if you don't understand something in the story, try to join social media discussions and ask away.
All in all, this drama is pleasing to the eye and is quite entertaining. It starts off lighthearted but the characters turn out to be more than typical rom-com characters. These are multi-dimensional characters who are not all good but also not all bad. In short, they are human. Dissecting the characters and what makes them tick is fundamental to enjoying this delightful drama.

The shows is a little but cheesy and predictable, but it is still a very cute to watch. I was looking for a kdrama to watch, and stumbled upon a trailer for this chinese drama. Dylan Wang seemed like a very handsome lead, so I gave it a try...and was not disappointed. I hope he will have more romantic roles in the future. He is strikingly handsome and has a very attractive voice. There's something very sexy about his gaze. He reminded me of Song Kang in Nevertheless. The actors had good chemistry, which is always important with romance genre. The supporting actors were also enjoyable to watch.

A lot of ppl said this storyline is a mess and too slow but if we compare this types of story with reality, it is suit the best with reality bc I never seen anyone develop their love with each other so fast ( example, in the most of Cdrama The fl and ml is just too fast so it doesnt feel real). So base on my opinion their love development is just like us in real life, moreover i can feel the chemistry from fl&ml, also the love is mature. Even though the quality of some scene of this drama is not good enough for me but i still enjoying it. Bonus for pretty female lead and hot handsome male lead and the supporting actors is fun to watch.
I am waiting for this drama for a long time and it's now ongoing, iam very excited to next episodes
Iam very huge fan wang hedi, I like him from meteor garden as daoming si. He is entirely different from the character in only for love (shi yan) he is childish, cool not arrogant I love him so much in this drama his jealous version is too good
And iam not that much fan of bailu but i like her chemistry with dylan wang they are the chaotic duo with same mentality chilidish, happy always, I love the together
So many people are saying bad about this drama like as the main leads two are workaholic they don't have chemistry buy I say they have a very interesting chemistry on and off screen and the drama plot is very good I also like the second and third leads alsoo but mainly iam watching this because of wang hedi he as cool, hot , handsome, smart CEO. I love bailu character also she is not like other fl she is brilliant, pretty, cool like her boyfriend (shi yan) she is little clingy too
Last of all i love the drama, waiting for the next exciting episodes , if you really don't watch starting yet that was a huge loss to as a cdrama lover.

This drama is so bad that is good?
Let me explain.
Even though sometimes you get a sense of what the writers are trying to do and the direction they tried to take, the script makes absolutely no sense. You spend the whole series speculating the intention of the characters or if there's any real plot at all because nothing really happens for most of the drama.
The series is at least 15 episodes too long and the secondary plot of technology is the most boring thing I have tried to watch in my life, I literally disconnected the whole time.
But then you watch Dylan Wang and Bai Lu together and magic happens in front of you and somehow you forget everything else about the show. You find yourself smiling, trying to guess what the hell is going to happen with this couple, admiring their electrifying chemistry and wondering when their next kiss will be and for how long... Their characters suck? YES, there are a hot mes, (again the script is terrible) But they are really good together, and specially Bai Lu's performance is spectacular.
I have watched all Dylan Wang's dramas and I know he can act better than here (Unchained Love, The Rational Love or Love Between Fairy and Devil as an example) so I blame the stiffness and coldness of his character. ( last few episodes his acting is completely different than the beginning)
Secondary couples were also great to watch as well and in general as a group of friends. It was very enjoyable, great chemistry overall. Special mention to the character development of the couple of the niece Qin Shi Yue and the Teacher Yu You ( played by Shen Yu Jie and Wei Zhe Ming) that arc was actually great to watch.
Would I recommend this series? No if you are looking for something of quality with a good script and great characters. But if you are looking for a bit of a trash tv with an amazing chemistry to spend a cozy night at home this is the one for you.
By the way, soundtrack is actually great and it surprised me! Great music.

Both male and female leads have played their character the best.
Its the little nuisances that fill the details of characters. Dylan wang as Shi Yan is not a big sharer, actor plays the character well through his eyes and movement of his fingers to express emotions.
Where on other hand, shuyi is inexperienced in behavior for relationship, and keeps us engaged at times frustrated with her nuisances.
The story takes leaps n bounds jump in emotional development and character development of the leads relationship after they patch up.
So patience is the key, but the end of story is completely satisfying. Especially the extra episode of their wedding!!!

I'm not a big fan of dragging out misunderstandings in romance although I understand it's a commonality but this show very quickly ran out of ideas on HOW to prolong the couples getting together.
The show has 2 main misunderstanding points that it uses too often to extend the run time, 1) random interrupting phone calls 2) seeing somebody getting in the car with someone, these are completely overused and just get annoying after the 3rd time
There are 3 main couples the show follows and one very randomly added couple near the last quarter of the show. All 3 have different levels of unhealthy problems that could be solved easily with the slightest bit of communication, and while I can excuse most of it because of their insecurities (I still say 30 year old intellectuals should know how to communicate) the 3rd couple truly exhibits worrying behaviour that is only ok because the show says it's cute and the guy isn't a threat but in reality this would be a much more worrisome scenario, (without going into spoilers) there is a significant age difference between the 3rd couple (which on its own is not a problem) but the show very clearly displays the power imbalance and inappropriateness of this couple, and they are given nothing in common or even any bonding time until the very end which just makes their relationship seem creepy.
The main couple is cute enough, although the female lead can be a bit infuriating in her decision making and complete lack of self awareness.
The second couple hugely suffered from having nothing to do during most of the show because their problems and resolution can be solved in just a few episodes so it ended up being dragged out poorly.
Overall all the actors are nice to look at and there are some very swoon worthy moments but I'm pretty sure I could've skipped 15 episodes and wouldn't have missed anything.

I love this drama and waiting for twist .... I can't say anything before ... So let's see 🙈We can't say anything before because there are so many things which are coming with time and other episodes so .. lets wait and see what will happen after this ... There are 36 episodes in total so waiting for the next episode so i can give better review later .. 😀 Honestly i like the actors so much .. Specially i m big fan of bai lu .. so i will support them .. rest i will tell after watching all the episodes so it will help you to know worth to watch or not .... Wait till 29 nov . See you later 😊😊👋 Thank you.
The cast's visuals are too good, everyone from lead actors to supportive actors are so beautiful or handsome. Also I really like their fashion sense/outfits, especially Bai Lu's( now I need the clothes she wear in the drama). Rather than that I think this drama is great if you want just to enjoy some drama without thinking too much, which is necessary for me when I watch dramas with thick plot and twisted storyline at the same time. I wouldn't say the trans is something new or innovative, however I liked that Bai Lu's character is really work orientated and has certain goal that she wants. But I would say I am not a big fan of cold CEO's and also all the hand grabbing wasn't for me. In general I would recommend the drama if you want to relax without thinking about anything.
Watching Idol dramas is a waste of time.✌💯
Its only been 6 episodes but I can no longer have the patience and excitement I once had... I think my expectation for this drama is set too high and now Im utterly dissappointed with the portrayal of the cast and most importantly the storyline. There is nothing special with the plot and dylans acting is lacking making it very unconvincing.. His clothes also is not the right fit. It is just your typical idol drama with dashing lead actors. While watching, my attention was more on my dog rather than watching the drama and i even set it to 2x speed just to finish it. Looks really is just a bonus in watching drama.. The drama needs to have an amazing storyline and impeccable acting to make me watch it til the end.
This drama is not just my cup of tea.

'm a huge fan of Dylan Wang and i think I can never go wrong when I pick one of his dramas to watch.
He's absolutely perfect in the role of the stoic up-tight even at time obnoxious CEO. A role that fits him like a glove, especially when he has that constipated odious look on his face, that I love so much.
He is a young CEO that want to get away from under his father's shadow.
She's a young financial journalist that wants to be the therte is.
Ofcorse we have the professional conflicts, the love rival that wants what he can't have, the jealous shrew that wants to ruin the girl that gets the job done, the misunderstandings, the medling parents even a few very stamy kisses.

Drama, a little bit of comedy, and loads of romance.
The plot is nothing serious or extraordinary but overall, I enjoyed watching it til the end.
Kinda slow paced and nothing suspenseful. It's something you'll want to watch leisurely.
It's feel good with lots of swoon moments.
Bai Lu is really fun to watch (in all her projects). Same with Wang Hedi.
When this drama was announced, I was so excited to watch this because of Bai lu and Wang Hedi. And I was more elated when I finally watched and saw Miles Wei here too.
Lots of gorgeous people in this drama. The "Three Musketeers" are a feast for the eyes. LOL.

Guys, sorry, but it turned out to be kindergarten in a bad way! If this is a film with the loud title Just for the sake of love, then it should have been filmed about love, and not children's games of wanting to, but not being able to... this film could have been saved by good scenes with kisses, but there weren't any of them! How could it be filmed and edited in such a way that the pair of main characters looked like an old, tired married couple??? The title of this drama is Expectation vs Reality! They tried to sell us a sexy alpha hero, who remained only behind the scenes! Drama failure of director's work! It's a pity, the actors are great and they really tried, but it's impossible to save something like this!
Dylan and Bailu have the best chemistry and it's clearly seen in the drama. They look so good together.
And the story plot of this drama is fabulous. I just loved the way Shi Yan loved Zheng Shuyi in the drama and the way she was pursuing him was also mind blowing... Trust me once you see this drama you'll get addicted. I have watched it more than 10 times and I have their pictures everywhere... Dylan Wang and BaiLu look soo beautiful off-screen and on screen.
Their kissing scenes makes me go mad...I mean it looks so real and so amazing ,can't explain it in words. Other actors in this drama are also amazing...

The series were really good but I honestly don't like the way it ended. I personally think it should have ended with shi Yan and Zheng shu Yi's wedding not the supporting characters wedding. I also hope they can give some update on whether or not there would be a season 2. It was a bit cringy I actually abandoned it after the 27th episode where they broke up but later finished it. I really hope they can provide the viewers with something to make up for the way the movie ended. I personally think they should also explain whether it was the book or the movie that came out first. Overall I enjoyed Dylan Wang and Bai Liu's acting. Thank you 💕

I NEVER write reviews but someone has to warn the world about this slow drain of time and brainwaves. It's the slowest, most boring thing I have ever tried to watch, and I really really really tried because of the cast. Worst script ever.
It's like this review, since everything you read in the title already told you everything you needed to know about my opinion but I had to go on and on and on and on, in a drawling dwindling pointless effort to make up the required number of characters. Why are you still reading this? Don't watch this show. It's acres and acres and acres and yards of boring.
