Preminchoddu: Don't Love

I saw this movie yesterday at Shanti theater, it was not houseful probably because of changes in weather. The movie was good, the narration slow and takes its own sweet time.

This movie succeeds in several departments. Compared to what I expected, the music and cinematography were really good. All shot locally in and around Hyderabad, the movie has a raw, yet beautiful appeal. I was impressed by the lead actress's performance. Anurup Reddy looks raw and has a lot of future potential, compared to many other actors in the to Telugu film industry.

Since it's a low budget movie, many visuals look cheap and you can expect a jugaad mindset throughout the film. However, you do not see this in other departments like editing or music.

Go watch if you like raw, meaningful content!

I watched Preminchoddu unexpectedly yesterday and thought I'd share a review. The movie directed by Shirin is an up close perspective on kids from the slums and the effect modern day lifestyles and technologies have on them.

The movie starts with Lalasa getting into polytechnic college. Understandably such kids feel inferior to students going to engineering colleges, and Lalasa ends up developing feelings towards Kamal, a reasonable and thoughtful person. Shortly after, when Kamal seems to underwhelm Lalasa, she ends up feeling attracted toward another man who is able to satisfy her desire for material things. What follows is the story of how an innocent girl switches back and forth between the two men, who are much older than her and finally ends up falling victim to a violent ending.

I enjoy good stories and I highly recommend this movie originally a Telugu movie, but has all the sensibilities of a Malayalam movie.
