One of the coolest and most genuinely horrific premises I ever beheld was in Lucio Fulcio's "City of the Living Dead", when the suicide of a priest in a graveyard leads to the opening of hell's gates to earth. Why am writing this? Because, for a very brief moment, I hoped that "Disco Inferno" had a similar premise. The story opens atmospherically in 1955, with a nun confessing to murder and baby-kidnapping before hanging herself in church. Alas, though, after the promising intro the plot goes into a totally different and utterly stupid direction. "Disco Inferno" is a good example to illustrate why you shouldn't bother with short movies. There's no context, character depth, or decent build up. It's only 20 minutes long but manages to be boring for fifteen of those, and the denouement is pathetic beyond words.
Here is probably the biggest budget and least memorable short film ever. It has an unoriginal story and a terrible ending. The CGI candle was pointless. It has very long credits for such a short film about nothing. The acting and dancing was fine though. Disco Inferno has absolutely no impact whatsoever, don't bother.
Since IMDb requires 600 character even for short films I'm going to copy and paste my review.

I dont get the point on producing something like this.
Without giving top much away: They start with a ludicrous premise that you feel needs to be explained in order for the audience to know how did we get there om the first place, but it never is explained. Then we move to years later where there are obvious connections to the aforementioned premise story, but even then, things just happen out of the blue and there's just no satisfaction given to the audience in terms of the writers going "so this is how we got here from there, see?" You end up with a feeling of "but why?" Pointless, shallow and meaningless. At least its short.

I must confess I plunged into this netlix job rather unaware of what lay ahead. Therefore, it is difficult to claim offense when the thing came to an abrupt end. It was a short and I found out the hard way, but with a feeling of relief as well. After all, I wasn't especially enjoying what I had seen, so out of sight, out of mind. The very bare plot juggles demonic possession, maternity and boogie in a hurry that mostly denotes a flair of 70s nostalgia (mostly Dario Argento and John Travolta) and a slavery to well trodden tropes of both horror and musical movies. The outcome is not remarkably outstanding, just another netflix whim of a genre, that of horror, that requires imagination and sense of humor. Most recent case in point: Adult Swim Yule Log. This one, I do recommend.

Omg. What did I watch? First of all I have to say please do not produce short horror movie. Because till now every short horror movie is so boring, so annoying, so meaningless. No horror elements in here. By the way I like the idea, maybe someone can make a long version of that but with this version it is really absurd. I like disco atmosphere. Dresses and looks was good. I can say I loved only this part of the movie. What happened actually I don't know. It is so open ending story. Why happened this exorcism things to main character no Idea. That was stupid part. This black eyes situation was really unnecessary. Anyway I think it is kind of experimental movie and cinematography was good but no story, no acting skills in it for me..

I can only speculate that this was meant to be a kind of demo reel for the people involved in the production to burnish their resumes and show they have the necessary technical skills to work on some future costumed period drama or PG-13 horror movie. In that case good for them, it certainly looks more polished than the average student film. But the story and writing are inane and they were (apparently) surplus to the demo reel objective of showing the production team's directorial, cinematographic, acting, set design, et cetera competence. This certainly wasn't made for public consumption or to entertain an audience. So why release it?

What absolute twaddle. I am so frustrated right now, and yes, bitter! I have came up with ideas, I have written short stories, and nothing has ever been picked up by anyone. I then turn on Netflix and watch this rubbish! How in the actual flubber does stuff like this even get produced? Complete and utter waste of time! I think they are trying to be clever and artsy, but is just comes across as an absolute dog's dinner of a production. Hell even the actors don't seem to know what their motivation is supposed to be. I am absolutely still shaking my head in disbelief that this is a thing that was written, produced, cast, filmed and distributed!

C'mon! I was so excited to watch this "movie" and
I was disappointed when the end credits started rolling in.
Like... what the heck? I was left wanting to see
More. Much, much more.
Why was it such a short film?! This could have
Been such a great movie! The idea was there, but
It was poorly executed in my opinion. Ugh!!!!
Ugh!!! Ugh!!!! Ugh!!!
The acting was great. No complaints from that.
Just that this was not good of a movie. So there
You have it. They could at least made it an hour
Long. I don't know what else to add. I got
My hopes high and that was it. Major disappointment
Not worth my time.

This could be a longer film, to be honest. The plot is okay, it could be something bigger, however, when trying to recreate events in a period of time that was not even that long ago, one should research a bit more about the subject they want to portray to avoid flagrant anachronism.
There was no "disco fever" as early as 1973! Disco music was in its infancy that year. Disco was still a underground phenomenon with mostly funk and soul music, and there were no clubs like Studio 54 (the obvious inspiration for the one where the story is set in), with people making huge lines, and there was no "dance competitions" and "three-piece suits" that were clearly inspired by Saturday Night Fever, a movie that would only see its release in December 1977. The hairstyles, fashion and music don't match 1973 either.
If the story took place in 1978, in the actual height of the disco crazy, it would be spot on!

This movie is completely pointless. Rehearsing the short dance scene must have taken longer than writing the script. I know it's a short movie. I've seen many good short movies. This is not one of them. Writing this review and trying to bring it up to the required sixhundred characters probably takes longer than writing the script. If you read the blurb of the movie, you already know everything that happens. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. The production staff really tried hard to make this look good and the actors do their best, but there is simply no substance to the story at all. 321.
Cute short, that I only saw because I didn't notice it was a short.
It felt like a real movie, not happening fast or rushed, that just ended. So if you don't know this is a short, I don't think you'll be able to tell either, it just quickly ends and it just leaves you there hanging.
Anyway for short movies IMDB should really change their 600 characters policy, because there isn't too much to cover.
It is a 15 minutes production, with good actors, nice location and an interesting plot to be honest.
It tries some character development, very little tension, it just fails with the ending. It simply happened too fast and it had nothing to do with the characters, they were just in the back seat, leaving the villain to be cut short by the movie's runtime and not a proper development.
Thus being said, sure I can recommend it, but more importantly those involved in the movie should prepare to make the bigger step. So far so good.
Cheers!

I assume that you assume the dots can be replaced by night ... and you are not wrong. They may be replaced by something else too - so no pun intended. First things first: While I assume they did research and did their best for this to look authentic (time wise), it just doesn't feel like you are in the 50s or later (for most part) in the 70s ... well the latter works better. Still you have to suspend your disbelief for this to work.
The acting is really good and the shock effects work more than nicely. Question is if you dig what the short movie is trying to tell you. Story wise or philosophically speaking I assume ... life ain't easy. Sharing it with someone else makes it better most of the times. Adding to that ... even better? (no pun intended)

I really feel like the people who have left negative reviews just have never heard of horror shorts? This is weird to me, weirder still that people would then judge the entire film based solely on the fact that they didn't like the length. As far as short films go, this one has high production value that is put to good use. The script is decent, and the acting is fine. The set captures the feel of 1970s LA without wasting precious resources obsessing over perfect period accuracy. And while it may not be the "scariest" horror short, it had good atmosphere and an interesting concept and story, as well as some light social commentary that didn't get in the way of itself. As a fan of horror shorts, I enjoyed this one, too!
