I haven't laughed this hard in a long time

What a movie and what a brilliant casting! Kudos to Jeethu Joseph for a creating a brilliant comedy movie after a long time. The comedic elements worked really well for me in this movie, and the ensemble cast, including Aju Varghese and Swasika, just stole the show.

I don't have any negatives to share about this one but I felt the editing could have been a bit better. Jeethu's technical department has a great standard and I have been noting that since a long time. I'm not saying it was bad but I felt it lacked the lustre unlike his last films.

Basil Joseph has done a great job once again. Hopefully, he will continue choosing the right scripts. Kudos to everyone once again.

    Fun

Comedies are where I have the most disagreements with most people. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of comedies that are more beloved and often find myself enjoying the ones that aren't that popular. From a lot of reviews, it seems that's the case with this movie too. Nunakkuzhi is a comedy of errors with a great ensemble cast. The first half of the movie was entertaining enough but it was filled with Jeethu Joseph's signature overbearing music which didn't completely work for me. Even though a little over the top, the cast did a great job of keeping me invested in it. But then the second half was a laugh riot for me. Maybe I was sucked into the movie by that time and got used to the over-the-topness of the movie. But when all the smaller stories started colliding, it was incredible watching the cast being hilarious. Basil being a hateable weirdo rich mamma's boy was a bit of a surprise but he was great as always. Watching Manoj K Jayan after a long time was also pleasant. Siddique, Baiju, Grace, Nikhila, and everyone were just amazing to watch as they were fully committed to this over-the-topness that is rarely seen now and even rarer to see it work. Even though I enjoyed it a lot, the film has its flaws. There are a lot of portions where it did feel like it could have better pacing. The characters could have been a bit more well-rounded. The comedy in the first hour had moments where it felt like they were giving space for laughter in the theater but the people weren't actually laughing. It also felt like they could have made it a bit deeper because there were a lot of things in it that had the potential to add layers beyond what they did. But overall it was a fun two hours that I really enjoyed.

    Comedy of errors!

An IT raid on Eby Zachariah's company leads to IT assistant commission Bhamakrishnan seizing the devices including Eby's personal laptop for further enquiry. Eby has his private video with his wife saved in his laptop and she gives him an ultimatum to retrieve it at any cost. Meanwhile, Rashmitha feels humiliated by her husband and his doctor friend Jayadevan during her divorce case hearing. She confronts Jayadevan violently and later tries to end her life. Eby tries to steal the laptop but ends up hiding in Rashmitha's flat and even drinks the poison laced drink she had made for herself. What happens that night when the police, a film actor and hired goons get involved in the mess, forms rest of the story.

The over the top comedy is something up Basil Joseph's ally and he aces his role with ease. As the humor is driven by the situation and ofcourse several misunderstandings, it works mostly in evoking laughs especially during the hospital scene and later towards the end. I wish Althaf Salim's segment was better handled but the final reveal involving him made me laught the most. Nunakkuzhi remained a decent watch, thanks to the performances and may be it won't work the same in repeat watches. The comic timing of Basil Joseph and Grace Antony along with Nikhila Vimal in the end, guarantees laughs, making it a decent one time watch.

    " A Hit and a Miss Experience "

~ ' Nunakuzhi ' directed by Jeetu Joseph starring Basil Jospeh was a hit and a miss experience for me at the theatre. There were moments that I laughed while there were also moments where I was bored by the film. The film's title is apt for the story. The central premise of the film is how lies can put you into grave danger and how it could affect our lives. The plot was interesting but the execution wasn't much. There were a lot of things and characters in the film who don't have a proper arc or ending. The film's first half was okayish at best and the second half is where most of the funny moments happen with Baiju being my standout of the film. Basil , Siddique, Manoj K Jayan , Grace Antony and Aju Varghese has done a decent job aswell. The scores done by Vishnu Shyam was nice , direction by Jeethu Joseph while it's not bad but it's not that Jeethu Joseph level. I could blame my average experience on my ' My Boss ' level film expectation or the crowd as it was not packed. Overall , it was a timepass film for me and nothing else.

    Nunakuzhi - Liar's day out

    Nunakuzhi - Liar's day out

A humorous engaging story telling by Jeethu Joseph built over endless lies.

The plot of the movie revolves around the heaps of lies that two individuals tell to cover the trouble they accidentally got into and the interconnected events that they come across forms the storyline.

Krishnakumar has written an engaging script with many humorous moments except for few flaws in areas that makes the story predictable. The way he connected all the characters in the story and their placement was impressive.

A highlight of this movie is evident through the brilliant casting of many versatile actors in the movie. Impressive performances by Basil,Grace,Siddique,Baiju Santhosh,Manoj K Jayan,Saiju Kurup,Althaf & Binu Pappu.

Good story telling by Jeethu in the humour genre after My Boss. The placement of the song 'Hallelujah' synced well with the situation. Jeethu has conveyed the story through a humorous track without losing the essence of the screenplay keeping the audience absorbed to the movie.

A fun to watch entertainer that is definitely a laughter treat for the audience.

    Rating - 3.5/5.
