Netflix has set Taiwanese drama series “Forget You Not,” directed by multi-hyphenate talent Rene Liu, who steps behind the camera after establishing herself as one of Taiwan’s premier actress-singers.

The drama features an ensemble cast featuring Golden Horse Award-winning actress Hsieh Ying-xuan, veteran actor Chin Han, Tracy Chou and Esther Liu (“At the Moment”). The series also benefits from special appearances by Wallace Huo (“Light the Night”), Wang Po-chieh (“Eye of the Storm”) and Chen Yi-wen.

Set against the backdrop of a bustling metropolis, “Forget You Not” delves into the powerful role of memory within family dynamics. Supernatural crime series, “Detective Daji” is to be launched as a project at next week’s Asia TV Forum and Market (Atf) in Singapore.

The U.S.-Taiwanese show involves a female police officer Detective Daji Su murdered in the line of duty. She is given a second chance at life when she is resurrected by an ancient Fox Demon who is hell-bent on revenge and reclaiming her own place in the demonic world.

The underlying IP was created by American screenwriter, Todd DeBonis, while the screenplay for the pilot episode was developed by Sarso Chou, DeBonis, Steve Chicorel and Organic Media Group’s Taiwan anchor producer, Samantha Kao Lin-shiu.

The show is expected to run to eight one-hour episodes and feature Taiwan star Kuo Hsueh-Fu, better known as Puff Kuo. Production is by Taipei and Los Angeles based Organic Media Group and Taiwan’s Sarso Entertainment.

At the Taiwan Creative Content Fest, leading Taiwanese actors Wu Ke-Xi, J.C. Lin, Kai Ko, and Esther Liu offered candid insights into their experiences working on international co-productions, discussing everything from language barriers to cultural differences in approaching intimate scenes.

Wu shared her experience working on Berlinale title “Black Tea” with director Abderrahmane Sissako, describing the unique challenges of a French-language production. “The director only had a rough script and wanted to incorporate the actors’ ideas,” Wu explained. The production, shot in Taiwan and Africa, required constant translation between French and Chinese, sometimes leading to cultural disconnects. Wu, who previously learned Burmese and Thai for Midi Z’s “Road to Mandalay,” also studied the local version of Portuguese for her role as a Chinese restaurant owner in Cape Verde, though those lines were ultimately cut.

This story doesn’t just follow two lovers making their way to each other; it is also a journey of healing and moving on.

Episode 6 opened with Joe being featured in a documentary and giving an interview. He reminisced about those romantic moments of his life when he proposed to his ex-girlfriend, Jo-nan, to marry him. At Joe’s workplace, a security guy was seen watching that interview and asking Joe to stop for a while as he wanted to talk to him about what happened to his relationship.

At the Moment takes us from a plain old story of deceit to a love story between an alien and a time traveler. Episode 4 isn’t a new story at all; it’s just one of those 2000s rom-com stories repackaged in the era of the pandemic. It’s a bit of a stretch, but the leads have decent chemistry to keep us going. This episode follows a writer named Chih-hsuan, who believes she’s traveled to 2021 from the year 2012 because she graduated about two weeks ago and is 22 in her mind, while physically 32. Soon, she’s going to find the one person who believes her.

Episode 3 of At The Moment is quite difficult to watch because it’s one of those stories, where a character keeps getting deeper into their lies until they can’t tell the truth anymore. For a show that is set in the pandemic, this episode does away with any inhibitions of proximity, which feels odd, to say the least. The leads are a YouTuber named Pao-Lin and a hairdresser named Pei-Ming. Their meet-cute is rather unusual, as is the rest of the story that follows. According to the Netflix description, this is a story about two “wounded souls” who find themselves crossing paths on a fateful night of unfortunate (or fortunate) incidents. We start off with a single mother who works as a masseuse. She works at home and the night shift just to make ends meet, especially in the pandemic. On top of it all, she has an ex who steals her credit card for money that she supposedly owes him to pay off his gambling debts. On the other hand, there is a man with a hearing aid who is desperate for a connection but hasn’t found a genuine one yet.

With The Killer, Fincher reteams with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the graphic novel written by Alexis Nolent.
