Avis à la une
The opening half-hour's extra-long handheld sequence shot introduces the cause, with the characters getting in and out of the car, and the circular movements within the car being dazzling -- and the sound effects were effectively and impressively layered! However, what made it great also led to its downfall: the plot and the acting merely 'tell' the audience about the family's emotions, rather than letting the audience experience them for themselves. The two most genuinely tender moments for me were, instead of the catchy long-take, the two wives testifying at the court and the lovemaking in the clutter room during the birthday party. Therefore, contrary to some other reviews, I spent the entire first half merely observing the long-take and contemplating how arduous the staging must have been, completely failing to empathise with the characters' urgency. It was only the second half that contained the truly effective cinematic expression, successfully infecting the audience through audiovisual means.
I couldn't describe this film in a few words, but I can certainly describe what it made me feel.
Every shot was carefully crafted, keeping you focused on the plot, which is truly a horrifying tragedy. The way the media and the protagonist's acquaintances present their own perspectives on what happened is undoubtedly essential, emphasizing or disregarding the case and ultimately shaping your own opinion of the events.
Among the protagonist's relationships, I would certainly highlight his relationship with his wife, who feels for him and empathizes with him, but clearly has her own outbursts of anger, the memories that consume her, and the spiral of emotions she experiences.
Honestly, I'm not the type of person who cries while watching a movie. I consider myself more detail-oriented and insensitive, using the excuse of "it's just a movie." But at the end of the film, I couldn't hold back the tears that fell. I was truly immersed in the plot, and every moment and action was another blow. I wasn't expecting to see a movie like this from the male perspective, and I must say I was quite satisfied; it's definitely a good movie.

I watched the movie in form of the ZFF and it is a really moving story. The camera is often really focused on the actors faces, so you see all the emotions of the protagonists. It lacks of dialogs discussing, what the protagonists think about. For me, it lets you alone with your own thoughts. I don't think the movie will tell you anything really. It just shows you what happend (its based on true events).
Father is a beautiful and deeply sad film that leaves a strong emotional impact. It presents realistic stories and situations that feel honest and relatable, making the experience both moving and meaningful. The film handles its themes with sensitivity, allowing the emotions to develop naturally without forcing them. One of its strongest elements is the cinematography, which is beautifully crafted and adds depth to the storytelling. Every frame feels thoughtful and reflective, enhancing the emotional weight of the story. Overall, Father is a touching and well-made film that stays with the viewer, offering a powerful look at loss, love, and human vulnerability.
It is a very powerful and incisive film, with a tightly and well-balanced narrative structure. Milan Ondrík's performance is truly extraordinary. I must admit that I did not expect such depth in the story, nor such a compelling performance from the male lead. The film engages the viewer on an emotional level throughout.
The director, Nvotová, deserves congratulations not only for the film's artistic success but also for the courage she showed in taking the risk to make it. Had Ondrík's performance not been sufficiently strong, the entire narrative could easily have collapsed. Instead, thanks to both the director's vision and the flawless performances of the entire cast, the film achieves a remarkable coherence and impact.
