I really loved seeing Camden shown so well.
But Camden is massively a Punk and Metal home... none of these bands, venues and club nights were covered. It is a shame as the cultural diversity was just as huge there as it was in the cultures shown.
Also where is the modern Camden? The sellout shell of a place once full of freedom and individuality that is now in this place should be discussed.
Camden is still dear to my heart but it is not the place that cultivates anymore.
Perhaps there is room for Dua to add Punk and Metal episodes... or perhaps this is Camden in her view and from those who inspire her. Which I think comes across so well.... She made this with love and there is nothing wrong with that.

Loved this show. As someone that was born and raised in the area and worked the stalls on Camden Lock in the early eighties this was nostalgic and an eye opener.
I knew the area when was a dive smoke infested shell when Dingwalls and the Dublin Castle were the only gigs in town. I knew the vibe and saw some of the bands that are now stars but missed so many that passed through.
The people shaped Camden and their music shaped Camden. The only disappointment was there wasn't more about the people that lived in the area.
A must watch for anyone that lived in the area and anyone that loved the music that shaped generations.

As someone who spent the better part of the nineties and early 2000s in Camden this seemed like a bit of a missed opportunity.
While it was absolutely grand to see all the other favorites, it was hard to know why the series used Dua Lupa as a through line when he relationship to Camden seems more residential than influential. And there was a bit of something missing from the overall telling of the story of Camden. It was like it was told from the pov from a very small very select group of people who were part of the scene but what about the rest of the people who made it what it was.
I used to manage the guest list of Feet First Tuesday nights at Camden Palais (as we called it) and would regularly see people like Mark Lamar, Skin from Skunk Anansie and others milling about. It was a major part of many people's lives and this doc only scratched the surface.
TLdR - nice to see the old spots, but didn't feel like it told the real story.

Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, as I'm not a big fan of documentaries and usually find them boring. Camden in the other hand had a way of captivating me from the start. Enjoyed all the new information I learned and definitely feel like I got to see a different part of London that reminds me a little about home, just goes to show the world isn't so different just in time and place. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is into documentaries obviously, but also those who are intrigued by musics history and where artist draw their inspirations from. Considering binge watching it again.
Here is 4 episodes about the world renowned Camden Town. The home of ska, punk and so much more, but this series concentrates on newer artists, Americans and glam rock. It truly doesn't do Camden justice. One of the uks most successful and biggest bands, madness not even really discussed, the clash, Ian dury, the specials and so many other iconic bands. Very very disappointing. OK there is a small part in the first episode for madness but that's it. None of the associated music.
Camden is very diverse but this series really concentrates on the less known. It was interesting to see others who thrived but the pioneer episode was purely concentrated on grilles Peterson a DJ and jazz including USA artists. I find the whole series pretty boring. When I hear Camden I envisage punk, ska and live music. Maybe I'm just getting old but I found the series poor. As if they couldn't get the bigger names involved? With the exception of madness, oasis and cold play. However for me oasis was a Manchester band.
Episodes 1 and 2 were decent but 3 and 4 poor.
