Here’s A Lookback At Robert Downey Jr.’s Stay In One Of The Most Dangerous Prisons ( Photo Credit – Flickr )
Before becoming Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. was far removed from Hollywood glamour – a maximum-security prison. In 1999, his battle with addiction led to a three-year sentence, and he spent 15 months behind bars in California’s Corcoran State Prison. “You could just feel the evil in the air,” Downey Jr. recalled on Armchair Expert. “There was no opportunity there. There were only threats.”
His legal troubles started in 1996 when he was arrested for heroin, cocaine, and an unloaded .357 Magnum. Probation and mandatory drug tests followed. But when he missed a test in 1997, he landed in Los Angeles County jail for nearly four months. A second missed test in 1999 sealed his fate – he was sentenced to prison. Two weeks in, Rdj found himself at Delano, a violent reception center where inmates awaited permanent placement.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for The Incredible Hulk #19! The Hulk is and has always been an absolute powerhouse in Marvel Comics canon, but he’s far from the only one. Over the years, the ‘Hulk Family’ consisting of a number of gamma-mutates has been growing at a consistent rate. From She-Hulk and Harpy to Doc Sampson and Brawn, there’s no shortage of Hulk Family members in the Marvel Universe. And now, one more has been added, though not because of gamma mutation, but thanks to an ancient god.
The Incredible Hulk #19 (Legacy #800) is a giant-sized collection of original Hulk Family stories. “Foul-Weather Friends” (by Greg Pak and Lan Medina) is a team-up comic with Hulk and Amadeus Cho, “Night Eternal” (by Torunn Grønbekk and Lynne Yoshii) is all about She-Hulk, and “Prisons” (by Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw) is a Red Hulk solo story.
