This series tells the story of Turkish society in its extremes: on one side we have an ultra-Islamic religious group, on the other an ultra-secular family. The story begins where their roads intersect.
The truth is, I think most of Turkish society swims somewhere in between these two groups, but this series decides to focus on the extremes- that is, on the pure black and pure white, and shows how they mix to become grey. I saw somewhere a quote saying "like front and back side of the same paper, we go through life together, but never see eachother". This series is kind of bringing the front and backside together, forcing them to look at eachother and accept eachother.
The characters are extremely interesting, as well as the dynamic between them. The conversations between psychiatrist Levant and Cuneyd are a thrill of every episode, with how profound and philosophical they can get.
To me the most interesting is the dynamic between Zeynep and Cuneyd. You find yourself in a strange position observing two individuals who understand eachother as if they're soulmates, so much so that you tend to forget how inappropriate the situation is.
So far, I have only watched the first season and I am positively surprised at how thought-through the scenario is. It's promising so far. There are, obviously, inconsistencies tied to the plot, and also the super annoying advertising within the series, but what can you do. As far as Turkish series go, this is just about the most thought-provoking one I have ever seen.
Warning for the future watchers: The series includes heavy themes of trauma, mental health, religious sects and secularism, feminism and anti-feminism, domestic abuse, as well as child marriage and child abuse. While there are no extreme scenes, these topics are around the centre of the story and it can get disheartening and disturbing at times. The topics are there to serve the message however, and in contrast to the the other series, there are no blatant displays of heavy topics such as showing abuse just for the sake of it.

I got hooked to this series very early on and did not get bored for a second during the philosophical exchanges for instance between Cuneyd (Mert Yazicioglu) and his psychiatrist, Levent (Ozcan Deniz) or the religious exchanges between Cuneyd and his uncle Sadi Hudayi (Erkan Avci). I appreciated the wonderful mother-daughter relationship between Meriem (Ozgu Namal) and Zeynep (Mina Demirtas), and also the touching relationship between Zeynep and Mira Alkanli (Esma Yilmaz), who is the same age, and whose goofiness added a light touch to the generally heavy atmosphere. I did not expect to root for Zeynep and Cuneyd but they turned out to be real soulmates who understood each other so well. A compelling element was also the relationship between the physics professor, Suave Alkanli (Serif Erol) and Zeynep. Secondary characters such as Birgul and Arif were charming too. I thought some of the women were a bit caricatural (especially Sadi's wife and daughter), and Hande Elkanli as a journalist was not very convincing but on the whole, the series was quite riveting and hope the second season will be as compelling.

Edit: Please, please don't let us wait too long for season 2! This is an absolutely brilliant series. My goodness. Who is Hollywood...they can only dream of filming such a brilliant series! I wish I could give this series more than a 10 star rating.
Wow, I didn't know what to expect from this series but am I stunned!
This series is beautifully written and casted. This series draws the viewer into this story and grips the attention from beginning to end. I can't wait for the next episode.
As a foreign viewer, who doesn't understand the religion and differences, I find this series so interesting. Regardless of belief system, there are good and bad characters everywhere.
From a child-bride to a blossoming love, while keeping respect and integrity. In contrast, the mother was also a child-bride but experienced the opposite as her daughter, in an abusive relationship and she would do anything to prevent her daughter from suffering a similar fate. She tries her utmost, with the help of a psychologist to get her genius daughter to rather study, but the restriction in the religion won't allow it. And they find themselves in life-threatening situations regularly. But all plans fail and it's as if fate is keeping her and her husband together.
Every week, the series keeps revealing different layers.
Really a series worth watching. Hope it continues for many more episodes!

KG is an amazing journey! Every episode feels like a final season!!! Is brutal, a very poetic script, amazing acting, the whole cast is wonderful! Highly recommended! Cüneyd character is something different, so poetic, mystical, but with a innocence of a child and the noblest heart ever! The marriage issue is an unexpected thing, never seen an interaction like Cüneyd and Zeynep, the most beautiful "relationship" in a series, definitely KG is different from other series you ever watched, the soundtrack is amazing! The photography so wonderful. Favorite scenes are the swing ones "is this is freedom, take it. I'll be watching"
In the world of cliche and repetitive Turkish dizis, this series is an exception. The way that the storyline is woven and the events are designed makes you hooked all the time.
What I liked most is the dialogue and the magnificent way the senarist is trying to deliver the ideas without making the viewer feel like they are taking a lesson.
The focus onto details and the acting is something else! Every single person from the cast lives their role in a way that you forget that you are watching a series and feel like it's a real life experience. Congrats to both Mina and Mert on the huge success!

First of all, the Kizil Goncalar series is the most beautiful series I have ever seen and the plot is the most interesting. The actors have great acting skills and you can tell that they have been carefully selected. Especially Mert Yazicioglu portrayed the character of "Cüneyd Efendi" so beautifully that it touches one's heart. I love this character and even memorize most of his lines.
Let me tell you a little bit about Cüneyd Efendi, when Cüneyd Efendi was young he lost his mother and suffered a great trauma. For this reason he was diagnosed with Obsessive compulsive disorder, the inability to touch. Also, Mr. Cüneyd is a very knowledgeable and gentlemanly man. He has a mesmerizing good looks and aura. Extremely handsome!! He is always very thoughtful and knows where to say what to say. He is Gülayse's son and he is listened to in the Faniler Dergah because he is seen as an exalted person.
Let me also talk about Cüneyd's wife Zeynep. Zeynep is a very smart girl. She is almost the same age as me. She has a great interest in mathematics and loves to do operations. She is an expert in solving problems and riddles. She has a pure beauty. She wants to read and learn a lot, but her father does not allow her to study. Zeynep comes to the sect from her hometown to marry Cüneyd Efendi.
First they meet in the library.
Then in many other places. Finally they have a religious marriage.
Zeynep makes Cüneyd fall in love with her intelligence and beauty. Cüneyd also falls in love with Zeynep. Later on, some people break up between them and the series becomes even more gripping. Although dozens of events happen to them, Zeynep and Cüneyd love each other very much. In addition, there are many more events in the series, not only the love of these two. Meryem and Levent's love is also mentioned a lot because they are also the main actors.
I highly recommend you to watch the series, have a good time!!!

Never have I ever waited so inpatient for an episode. I love everything about this series. So well written and beautiful story. Cüneyd is my spirit animal love him and Zeynep. Watch it watch it watch it. There is always an hidden plot twist that is a bomb and I feel so bad for cüneyd and Zeynep cause all the people around them are evil. Sadi is such a funny character. I always laugh he is funny without even trying. I hate vahid so so much and I need someone to take this evil man down. I love the Islam thematic so much. Me as a Moslem learned so much from it. I need the series to keep going like this. If you want something as beautiful to watch then watch THIS.

Teaching girls is and was never forbidden in Islam , women were doctors and teachers in Islam at the time women of other cultures and religions were deprived from their basic rights.
I am a Muslim Female Doctor ,and i am proud of my religion that has always given me my rights.
There were some other mistakes like Vahid who attempted to marry Zeynep who is his daughter in low !!!!!! This is totally prohibited in Islam this is Haram .
In season one Birgul kissed Sadi Hudai's hand , we dont touch males in Islam unless it's for medical purposes.
Cuneyd kneeled for Can !!!! This is also Haram !
Islam is kind , fair and respectful.

This series seems made to spread hate against Islam. The romantic scenes are likely added to attract viewers, but the main goal seems to be manipulation and spreading bias.
The series shows all the problems in the area caused by a specific sect portrayed as followers of Islam. Meanwhile, the heroes, shown as atheists, are presented as the only ones capable of making right decisions for everyone. It implies that others can't think for themselves or follow their own beliefs, pushing the idea that only their views are correct.
If someone wants to be brainwashed or exposed to a negative portrayal of Islam as shown in the series, they can give it a try, but otherwise, it's just nonsense.

Kizil Goncalar is an incredibly well made and touching series that brings writers 's life story to the screen. The storyline beautifully explores his struggles, love for people, and dedication to justice while incorporating elements of philosophy and spirituality. It also portrays the fight against both conservative and radical ideologies, making it one of the best Turkish shows I have watched seen. Some scenes are so moving and real that I watched them twice,a truly heartfelt experience.
This is a must-watch series that requires deep concentration to fully appreciate its depth. I enjoyed every bit of it, from the powerful storytelling to the rich themes of love, philosophy, and social justice.

Beautiful portrayal of Sadi H character. Real &relatable characters portrayal. Wonderful work Sadi , Hasna , Fayza. You made the episode very special
Well written script story line. Woud love to see it to develop more muldimensionaly ... exploring wider issues , moving from what seems to be a single focus on the equality of women in society. And perhaps discussing the dynamic between other faiths. With the possible impact on communities. Misconceptions of faith in current culture and if known fair portrayal of misconceptions within it self. Love the philosophical discussion between Levent and Junaid. Please bring more.

This series is a completely different and interesting series
Due to the fact that I only watched the first few episodes of this series, I completely lost watching this series.
I don't think that this series will go well or that it will be attractive, but after watching this series, I realized that not only is this series attractive and spectacular, but there are many concepts and secrets hidden in the series.
At first, I had seen an introduction teaser of this series, and when I saw it, I thought that the series was devoid of content and time-consuming, but after some time passed, I decided to watch this series that made so much noise, and I saw that it really is. It is a wonderful series and I suggest you watch it But it still has negative points that should be ignored.

The series is about the cross-relationships between a religious group's unwillingness to send their daughters to education and the power struggle within their own micro-environment, and a contemporary, highly educated family.
Although the series seemed fluid in synopsis, inconsistencies began to appear in the story, especially after the fifth episode. Cast deception, which we have come across a lot in recent years, also shows itself. While Özgü Namal gives acting lessons as usual, the singer Özcan Deniz, who is introduced as the leading role, does not hesitate to show that he has nothing to do with acting.
The rituals and events of the group that makes up the religious community, which have been given the impression that they are taken from real life since the second episode, are very absurd and far from reality. The actions of state institutions and police are overly theatrical and inconsistent, far from reality. The scriptwriters seem to have moved away from the perception of modernity they were trying to create and were interested in staging the religious community in their own imagination. The poor quality of the product placement concept for advertising purposes in the series immediately alienates the production from the A-class audience. I think even B- and C group audiences do not deserve this poor quality.
I hope to see some very talented actors who have just transitioned from theater to television with a lasting work in a more meticulous production.
