Eventually won me over

Jumped into this mainly because of Sasha being listed as lead in something with an R rating, along with a great support cast; Mira and Nestor (the non-eyeliner guy). Never heard of the book, but I do get a kick out of the seedy twins genre in general, so I kind of knew the plot without knowing it. It did kind of seem like a hammy parody of itself at first, but the more I watched, the more I couldn't really look away from Sasha (especially as Zoe), so I stayed with it. Yes, the plot is familiar, and the major plot twist is easy to spot in the first 15-20 min, but I have to say, Sasha is back on her game here from what I would call a void since playing edgy Ali in PLL. She looked fantastic and had charismatic confidence in her screen presence. All the main characters were beautiful people here (something I miss these days), and those elements combined with the absence of tiring identity, social political, and environmental messaging ended up making this an unexpectedly pleasant watch for me.

A Campy Movie That Can Be Fun

I was looking for a new movie to watch and didn't have much time, which is when I stumbled across The Image of You. Seeing that it is a mere ninety minutes, with a few recognizable TV show actors, I decided to put it on completely blind. At first, the movie seemed very campy. The dialogue was awkward, and the story felt forced. Nothing of substance occurred until the end of the film, where so much happened that it felt super chaotic. To pile on, Zoe is one of the most unlikable characters I have ever seen in film, and Nick is irredeemably heartless and dumb. At times, it was hard to watch. However, I pretty quickly stopped taking it so seriously and began to actually enjoy it a little bit. I was able to have fun watching the big twist, and laughing at the scenes that were outlandish. Overall, this was a pretty bad movie by all means, but it could be somewhat of a fun watch if you indulge in the campiness.

Imagine the ugliest movie you saw !! This will be even more

I really sorry to be rude but certain films deserve certain screenplays, if certain directors deserve it, if they deserve it, let's start by saying that in this film there is the usual sentimental triangle that is used by all the screenwriters who do not have the skills of writing a script !! Consequently, they take refuge in stupid sentimental or sexual triangles, the riggia is really bad, the script is written with the feet and the actors are ridiculous I don't know what else to say to describe this garbage, this is an insult even for the films reserved for TV, in assist the films for TV are absolute cult.

Beautiful and gripping!

Okay, this isn't my normal go-to type of movie, but a friend got me to watch it. And I do LOVE movies in general esp old movies from the seventies and before and there was so much style and movement and beauty to this film that it reminded me of movies from the past while definitely still being super modern and fast-paced. Also all the beautiful people in the film didn't hurt to look at. I thought the lead actress was INSANELY good. No spoilers but she did a helluva job. And Mira Sorvino and husband were epic. If you like thrillers and twisty movies or movies from an era gone by, check it out!

A Thriller that's Good for Passing the Time

The Image of You is a psychological thriller that explores the complex dynamics of identical twins, Anna and Zoe, as they navigate love, trust, and deception. Directed by Jeff Fisher and based on Adele Parks' novel, the film is ambitious in its attempt to blend suspense with emotional depth, though it ultimately doesn't fully reach its potential.

The performances, especially by Sasha Pieterse, who plays both Anna and Zoe, are one of the film's standout features. Pieterse skillfully captures the contrasting personalities of the two characters-Anna, the trusting romantic, and Zoe, the skeptical, protective twin. This dual role allows Pieterse to showcase her range, bringing emotional weight to the narrative, even if the script doesn't always support the depth of her performance.

Visually, the film makes some bold choices, including the frequent use of split screens to emphasize the differences between the twins' worlds. While this stylistic choice initially feels fresh, it eventually becomes more of a distraction than an enhancement, adding a layer of visual flair that doesn't necessarily serve the story. The cinematography is solid, with some striking moments that elevate the otherwise predictable plot, but it isn't enough to carry the film across the finish line.

The plot, while intriguing at first, ultimately falls into familiar thriller tropes. Anna's romantic involvement with the charming yet mysterious Nick, played by Parker Young, sets up the suspense, but the film never quite delves into the psychological tension it promises. Zoe's investigation into Nick's past could have offered more depth, but instead, the storyline feels like it's going through the motions without adding much complexity. The pacing also feels uneven, dragging in certain places while rushing through key revelations.

Despite its weaknesses, The Image of You does offer some thrills, particularly in its final act, where the tension heightens and some well-timed twists emerge. However, these moments aren't enough to offset the film's more formulaic aspects.

In the end, The Image of You is a film that has potential but doesn't quite live up to it. It's a fine choice for fans of psychological thrillers looking for something to pass the time, but it's unlikely to leave a lasting impression. With stronger writing and more compelling character development, it could have been much more than just another predictable thriller.

Pros:

-Strong performance from Sasha Pieterse, particularly in playing both twins.

-Visually engaging cinematography, with some interesting stylistic choices.

Cons:

-Predictable plot that doesn't fully explore its psychological themes.

-Pacing issues and uneven narrative flow.

-Split screen technique becomes more distracting than effective.

Multi screens ?!

I got about 10 mins in and was like are you kidding me is this gonna be an on going thing the multi screens and well looks like they ruined their own movie cause yup. I absolutely do not understand why anyone would think this is fun to watch. Or maybe the actual reason to do this was to ruin the movie. Or, is this why the lower rating cause it seemed like it had potential I was totally into Mira Sorvinio she's great actress. Sheesh I guess I'm going to go watch a true crime documentary thanks for the quick 10 min movie that might've been good !! Damn, I needed a thriller. Grrrrr. Oh, and wow my review isn't long enough to figure it's CAUSE I DIDN'T WATCH IT !!!

What a fun ride!

Really enjoyed this little gem. Sasha is amazing as Anna and Zoe and she can really act. The first plot twist is kind of obvious but I did not expect the ending. Let's just say it's nice when the good guy doesn't always win! Check it out! Not the best movie but it will keep you entertained. It's fun! What a movie is supposed to be. Sasha from Pretty Little Liars played Alison Dilaurentis all she is all grown up. You can tell that the role is perfect for her and this is what the ending of pretty little liars really should have been! At times it's a bit cringe at the start but towards the middle I was hooked.

Wow. So bad!

The only reason I gave it a two is because I did actually make it through to the end, although why I bothered I'm not sure!

It was also quite stylish, in its own way. Some of the outfits were stunning.

That said, the plot was completely obvious from the start and I kept waiting to see when everyone else would twig.

There was no plot twist as it hit you like a brick to the head within the first few minutes.

None of the characters were particularly likeable, especially the nice twin. Irritating doesn't come close, but I think that was meant to be the point.

I guess I could give it another point for the Titanic hand on the steamy car window, but I'm not feeling generous enough tonight!

Fun, Sexy, Thrilling Ride!

Sasha Pieterse and Parker Young are incredible in this thriller from director, Jeff Fisher. Expect twists, turns, and thrills from "The Image of You."

The cinematography and lighting are highly evocative of Hitchcock's mid-century work. The clever use of shadow in adding a certain layer of mystique to the character of Zoe is masterfully played.

The film's use of montage through splitscreens and wipes is also something that has not been utilized in Hollywood in quite some time (the "Ocean's" remakes are the most recent examples that come to mind). Fisher clearly wears his influences on his sleeve, and it is an absolute pleasure seeing this adaptation of Adele Parks' novel come to life.

AMAZING!!!

This was such a good movie!!!. 😘😘😘This is one of those movies where you think its gonna be predictable and simple but its not!! It was such a ride.🚌. The plot twist was such a turn of events I was on edge of my seat in the last 15 minutes. Sasha Pieterse has out done herself!!l Her portrayal of the characters of Anna and Zoe was immaculate! 😭😫😘😁Its giving Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries!! Parker Young's acting was so good! He did such a good job playing the character of Nick. Id definitely would love to see these actors again working on a new film. This was really really Good 10/10 i would definitely recommend!🎉🎉

Surprisingly Amazed

So I was winding down father's day with my 2 - 18 year old twin boys and my 15 year old daughter. Just as we were all about to say goodnight and I was ready to return to my home, my daughter said "dad, let's watch a movie together an we can make it an annual tradition. While I was exhausted and ready to head back home, I certainly wasn't going to pass on this very sweet invitation from my daughter and the start of a father's day tradition, so we settled into the family room of her mom's home and we searched for a movie that neither one of us had scene.

We stumbled onto The Image of You and wow what a way to start our tradition!!!!

Captivating, invigorating and even mesmerizing from the word go. We found ourselves sitting on the edge of our seats, passing on the snacks because we didn't want to miss a word and desperately trying to figure out where it was all going to land, something we both failed to do.

In addition to both disturbing but fascinating storyline, and well told, the movie's director kept a very high energy and excitement throughout the entire movie, using music, interesting split and quad screen shots that made the picture feel ALIVE!!!

So from a 62 year old man that was exhausted and an equally tired 15 year old girl - thank you thank you thank you - This movie made the start of our tradition a most memorable one!!!!

Crazy Amazing

This movie was absolutely amazing. I loved the storyline of these two twins. They were both so different from one another and this caused conflict between the two. Their love for each other helped them stick side to side and make them feel close. Zoe was a bitter and angry woman who had trouble trusting people. She believed that her sister was naive and tried to make her more aware. Sasha Pieterse was incredible were performing two completely different characters. I am happy to see her growing from Alison Dilaurentis. She is able to play these villainous roles very well and I think that it's very entertaining.

Perfect popcorn movie

I rented The Image of You with my friends last night and loved it! The movie is really fun to watch and kept me guessing until the end. It will remind you of a Basic Instinct type movie because there is mystery, thrills, and of course, sex. I don't want to spoil anything, but the sex is integral to the plot so it never feels gratuitous. The ending is one if those mind blowers that I will remember for a long time. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. Maybe they will do a directors cut someday? If you like twisty thrillers with pretty people and glamorous sets, fire up the popcorn and have fun with The Image of You.

Steamy Guilty Pleasure!

This harkens back to the erotic thrillers of the 90s. It's sexy, stylized, tightly plotted, and features a gorgeous cast. Sasha Pieterse eats up the screen in a dual role as the twins (a fun element here), and Parker Young has never been hotter. There's a bar/restaurant to hotel room sequence that's exceptionally well acted, choreographed, and shot. It gives off BODY HEAT vibrations, which is always a good thing with movies like this! Also loved the supporting turns by Mira Sorvino and Nestor Carbonell. Wish they made more movies in this genre. The pacing is wicked fast and goes from meet cute to complications to crazy climax to credits in a bang. Appreciated the glossy approach here. Edgy without being too dark, eroticism that leaves you wanting more, and the right amount of snark. Check it out!

I love a great twist!

The Image of You delivers an incredibly entertaining experience, with Sasha Pieterse delivering an impressive performance as both Anna and Zoe. She must have been exhausted by the end of the shoot -- an incredible acting feat that director Jeff Fisher masterfully wove into the movie through shot choices, editing choices, and the like. I absolutely love a plot twist. I don't want to give anything away, but I did NOT see some major story surprises coming. This movie had me hook, line and sinker from the start. Highly recommend for a great night on the couch with a lover, friends, or watching it solo -- pure fun.

This movie will leave you thinking.....

The Image of You is a psychological thriller that hooks you from the start and keeps you on edge until the very end. Jeff masterfully crafts a tense atmosphere where every moment feels unpredictable. With unexpected twists, complex characters, and an ever-building sense of unease, the film constantly keeps you guessing. The plot unravels layer by layer, revealing shocking turns without ever giving too much away. It's a gripping exploration of trust, betrayal, love, and the darker side of human nature. If you enjoy films that challenge your perceptions and keep you thinking long after they end, this is a must-watch. Prepare for a wild ride!!

A Sexy Fun Thriller!

The Image of You is a fun, unpredictable movie! It's a sexy, psychological thriller with complex characters and a story that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Parker Young's a charismatic lead and his chemistry with Sasha Pieterse is palpable - you get pulled in by the innocence, lust, and love of their relationship. Jeff Fisher gives the movie a sleek, sophisticated look and tells the story with a nod to film noir where one feels the pull of both desire and devotion, hope and inevitability. I would love to see more movies in this genre; movies that engage your mind and thrill the senses. An entertaining, wild ride!

Really Enjoyed This Movie!

A friend recommended this movie and I'm so glad he did. My husband and I both really enjoyed it. It was the perfect couples flick for a Saturday night. Equal parts, sexy, and suspenseful with big doses of shock value. I didn't read the best-selling book, but after seeing this thriller movie, I wish that I had. Storyline kept us both guessing right down to the very end. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the plot throws you another big twist. The director does an excellent job taking you along on the wild ride. The acting was spot on. I especially enjoyed Parker Young and Sasha Pieterse's performances. She was great as the twins Ana and Zoe. I give this film two thumbs up. Definitely worth watching!

The perfect movie-night flick!

Settle in with your favorite beverage and snack for a stylized rollercoaster ride with the yummy Parker Young and the gorgeous Sasha Pieterse as the chemistry boils over! The plot will keep you guessing, and the performances will impress. Add standout contributions from Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino and the always impressive Emmy Award winner Nestor Carbonell (who imo, should be on my screen every day of the week) and you won't be able to look away. I watched with friends, which made it even more fun! The sets, the wardrobe, the actors--all of it was eye-candy, a throw-back to lush psychological thrillers of the 1980s. More of this, please!
