Castle Secrets

If you're looking for an erudite explanation of the castle's covered in this series I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

There appears to be no coherent structure to this program except to put as many, alleged, historians in quick succession with no factual comments. We don't know what they did here, we're not sure what went on in here exactly, maybe they used it for some sort of ceremony. Not exactly what one expects from a supposedly historical series.

The narrator either did it as a Friday rush job or has no interest in the subject matter whatsoever, this is very much apparent in their delivery of the narrative.

The cinematography does try to save the day with some excellent panoramic views of the castle's but this is quickly ruined by rolling out the long line of historians waffling nonsense.

At best this is a missed opportunity for what could have been an excellent series. At worst a damning insight into what passes as educational these days.

Just awful!!

From the hugely overwrought narration "what TEEERIBLE secrets could this building hold?" to the ridiculously clickbaity "experts" (What is the purpose of thus huge network of secret passages? We may never know! Oh...wait...they were for the servants' access...) this entire series is sensationalist nonsense.

Any actual, useful historical information gets overlooked and lost amidst the hyperbole. The ONLY reason I am continuing to watch beyond the first episode (Nazis! Smugglers!! Scandals!!! SECRETS!!!!) is to get the names of the castles so I can look them up later.

Rubbish. Avoid.
