    NEVER WATCH THIS MOVIE

Lemme start off with this. This movie is horrible never watch the movie. The sfx are bad the graphics are horrible the acting is even worse. 2nd of all they were both stranded and they find a random man and then they get the boat to work and the coast guard went to go help her when she was in the water and then fireworks come out of no where like what the hell man. 0/10 never watch. It's a waste of time i literally was screaming at the tv cause it was so bad. If you want to waste your time go ahead but not me im never watching that movie again. If i could talk to the actors i would criticize them on how bad they were. As you can see i gave it absolutely no stars.

A watchable shark movie from The Asylum...

When I stumbled upon this 2023 shark movie titled "Blind Waters", of course I had to watch it, as I have something for sharks. But needless to say that I wasn't really harboring much of any grand expectations, as the majority of shark movies tends to be dubious and questionable movies.

And then when the movie started, those to dreadful words appeared on the screen: The Asylum. Yep, this was another movie from The Asylum, though it wasn't their archetypical mockbuster type of movie. Regardless, I still opted to watch "Blind Waters", as some movies from The Asylum actually are entertaining.

Writer and director Anthony C. Ferrante put together a fair enough script and storyline for the movie. Sure, one can argue for whether or not it was generic, but then again, isn't it sort of limited just how much you can differentiate a shark-themed movie? With that being said, then I found the storyline to be entertaining.

The acting performances in "Blind Water" were fair. It wasn't a particularly big cast ensemble, nor was it any recognizable actors or actresses on the cast list. But I will say that the cast ensemble actually put on good enough performances to carry the movie.

Visually then "Blind Waters" was somewhat of a mixed bag of nuts. Some of the special effects, whether it was CGI or practical, were quite good, but on the other hand, then some of the effects were rather questionable. But all in all, it was actually not too shabby.

I found that "Blind Waters" proved to be a fair enough shark-themed movie. Sure, it wasn't a particularly outstanding or memorable shark movie, but it was good enough for a single viewing. The movie's cover/poster, however, set up the movie to be a bit more exciting than what writer and director Anthony C. Ferrante actually delivered.

My rating of "Blind Waters" lands on a five out of ten stars.

from the man who made bad shark films a pop culture thing.

Anthony Ferrante is now left to direct small scale shark movies in the aftermath of his Sharknado films becoming both the summit and pit of such things. That was all awhile ago now. Those films had larger and larger budgets and probably helped crasht the Science Fiction channelas they finally stopping making their lousy CGI ANIMAL attack movies. The fact that is over is something to be thankful for, but sadly Ferrante was unable to escape from the cheap but still clutching at him movie produced by The Asylum, a company that pays so little the State of California Labor board was actually after them for awhile.

In this one a too skinny girl and her too handsome boyfriend encounter a too much like BIlly Zane in Dead calm guy, rather well acted by Francisco Angelini. It'd be nice to see him have a real career, his take on the "Indianapolis" speech--if you dont' know what that is then you've never watched a shark movie before--is well done, though somewhat ruined by a sudden need, by the director, to shake the camera around, perhaps thinking this is the Blair Witch confessional/goodbye cruel work, mom I loved you, moment from that film. Hard to keep the iconic rip off moments straight I guess.

A couple of the cgi shark shots look okay, none of the shark attacks are convincing or scary or exciting. Some nice drone shots, which could be stock footage but probably aren't. A choppy ineffective music score credited to three people--probably just reused music from other Asylum produced movies.

It takes them 53 minutes to figure out they can use a cell phone to call for help and that's the least of the logic problems in the movie.

The movie is bits of other shark movies and basically runs out of ideas about an hour in so the lead gal then becomes more of less blind and we get back to a kind of Dead Calm plot for a bit. There are a numbe of soft focus shots supposed to be the point of view of our hapless lead gal, but none of them match what would be her natural perspective, the point of view shots aren't her actual point of view, though they often try to be. Someone kicks her and is aiming way off camera, this type of thing happens over and over.

It's just after so many years and so many shark movies you'd think Ferrante would have it down to an art or at least a craft, then again these are now made for so little money is so little time maybe there just isn't any art or craft that can escape. Ferrante is left to try to do what he can in the remains of Asyulm the production company. Too bad for him, but as viewers we can look elsewhere in this case.

This film is better than SWIM which Ferrante just wrote, to be even more terribly directed by Jared Cohnhead. Swim I believe was the first movie to bear the shame of the TUBI ORIGINAL brand, one we can only hope leaves behind what was done to death and badly a few years ago to do some films that can be more like Tubi's wide ranging titles. To be clear I like Tubi as a streaming network and I hope for better from this ORIGINAL BRAND, but I've not gotten it yet.

I suppose this film could be a drinking game with every time a character yells, "Faster." or "Swim," of or course "Shark."

Infuriatingly bad because of its length

Very straight forward shark movie. A bunch of people are on a holiday in a gorgeous setting. There is at least one shark that eats people.

This movie was unbearably long. Every unnecessarily long scene of people listening to music and dancing, or sharing mind-numbingly dumb dialogue was painful, knowing how long the overall movie would go on for. The characters are pretty stupid overall. An early scene shows someone who has stolen a boat and killed its captain, only to go to the middle of nowhere and get off the large, safe yacht in favour of a tiny dingy. Why? Why in the hell would anyone do that? What was the point of that?

The points are for the fact that it was shot properly on professional cameras with proper sound equipment, and some effort went into the silly soundtrack and score. I also always give a terible movie at least 2-3 points for being shot somewhere gorgeous. The good bad movies have the decency to give you something beautiful to look at while your ears are being assaulted by stupidity. This movie did that. Everything was beautiful. And the CGI shark was not the worst.

There are better dumb shark movies to watch than this one, but I'm glad that I saw it once, as a shark movie completist.

A somewhat underwhelming if still watchable genre effort

After heading out onto the ocean, a couple looking into the environmental effects on sea-life in the area are soon stranded in the water when a ravenous shark traps them at sea with dwindling supplies forcing them to deal with the creature with a sketchy survivor until they're rescued.

This was a fairly underwhelming genre effort. One of the few positives featured here comes from the simplistic setup that provides a decent enough excuse for the attacks to occur following their trip out on the water. Featuring the two looking forward to their study of the local marine life and his secret quest to make it a potential proposal opportunity, the resulting shark attack is a fine way to set up their need to survive in the water long enough to be rescued which is what ensures a solid series of antics following up on the first encounter. These attacks featuring the couple trying to utilize their sunken ship and supplies to their advantage not just getting out of the water but off of the island with the other shifty survivor that come off rather nicely, leading to some rather fun attacks and decent enough gore to be somewhat worthwhile. There are some issues to be had with this one that hold it back. The main problem with the film is the highly underwhelming and decidedly sluggish pacing that doesn't have much in the way of interest for quite a while. The structure here is the main culprit, making a series of odd decisions that leave the structure here quite uneven with some bizarre choices. The idea of taking the couple out to the reef as a secondary storyline with the stranger hitching a ride with the fisherman couple and then going through the relationship drama that transpires with them out there leaves the film's first half not knowing what storyline you're supposed to be following, to then bring the shark out as soon as it does leads to the rushed series of attacks leading to the spate of injuries that seem completely unrealistic as to how they would survive and continue to keep fighting with the wounds that they suffer here because the attacks are so early in the film. As well, the other problem here is that there's way too much going on with the inclusion of a human villain to try to overcome that feels unnecessary in the final half. Featuring the victim in the first place is a weird choice since he takes away from the fight to get away from the sharks circling the island with them so everything is suddenly drained of the type of suspense and action that's usually featured in these types of scenarios as there's now a need to try to deal with this threat which keeps the sharks away during this section of the film. Adding in the injuries that are still a prominent part of what's going on here, this only ends up allowing everything to get stretched out far longer than it needed to be making for a film that's way too long for its own good. These end up dragging the film down overall.

(at around 1h and 05 mins) There is an additional line of dialogue that appears in the closed-caption subtitles that isn't spoken in the film. Just after the character say's "The engine's perfectly fine." the CC subtitle adds: 'The propeller fell off' before he continues to speak again.
