Avis à la une
How many of these movies have started out with the aspiring reporter pitching her boss for her shot? She is given an assignment that takes her back home and also leaves her uncertain about it. Then she is thrown together with someone from her past for the duration of the assignment.
The assignment itself is interesting. Trish is set to be bridesmaid at three wedding in short succession. How those weddings play out has at least one twist and all of them play a part in her growth as a person and a writer.
Stephanie Bennett is OK but I wasn't really sold on Trish's romance with Ryan so I can't really say I thought her chemistry with Casey Deidrick was anything special. The dialog is ok but not great. There are no great highs or lows or tension in the story.

I am going to start by saying I was excited to see this film because it starred Casey Deidrick who I love and was phenomenal in Passionflix's Driven Series...but this couldn't have been more opposite in terms of a storyline as it was beyond vanilla. Maybe this is a case of not being of the same generation but all these floundering and waffling attractive young actors are failing to gain my sympathy not to mention my attention.
I watched this film until the bitter end...and didn't really have anything to say about it. I didn't hate it, in fact I was primarily indifferent to it. A magazine assistant wants to be a front cover writer...she pitches multiple stories, her boss says no and tells her she needs to put more of herself into her stories which leads her to write about the three weddings she is going to over the next three weeks...oh and she doesn't believe in commitment. Snooze. Self focused she gives a wedding toast at the third and final wedding (that of her best friend), that is all about her journey and not really focused on the wedding couple at hand. (Super glad she isn't my best friend!).
The friendships didn't ring true...really lacking in connection. The romance was almost nonexistent. The focus is really on self and self development...but not really in a good way through conscious work.
Still left without much to say about about this film except I can't think of a single person that I would recommend it too...which is too bad because I really do like Casey Deidrick!

6.8 stars.
I like the lead actress, she's gotta wicked beautiful smile and personality. The main actor is too much taller than the actress and that creates some challenges for the romance, however the film is entertaining enough.
The story is somewhat out of focus and there are too many cooks in the kitchen. Some of the characters' choices are illogical and lack common sense. This tilts the story on it's side a few times and leaves us wondering where this movie is going.
Eventually things work out, but they took us on a detour that will end up losing some of the audience before it's over. I like most of the actors, which is the best aspect of 'Wedding Season'.

Could have been silly, could have been boring and over-done. But it wasn't. It was a delightful watch, mainly because of the cast. Every one of them brought their A Game and the chemistry between the 2 leads was perfect. Yes, the basic premise of getting"the story" that would make or break her career was a bit of an eye-roller but so are most of them. The fact that there were 3 couples ( which could have been confusing and wasn't) and that those couples each stood out in their own story - that's amazing on its own. Casey Deidrick and Stephanie Bennett are becoming favorites of mine. Each of them rises to the occasion every time.
Not that Hallmark writers are known for generating Emmy-award winning scripts, but this one didn't even make it to the usual low bar for the channel. Not the least bit of storyline excitement or true humor. And if this was the level of passion the two leads exhibited during what should be the time of maximum romantic infatuation with each other, then the presumptive future marriage should likely lead to a life of sheer boredom in no time flat. The female lead was mildly engaging, but not to a level of magnetism. The male lead's salary could have been saved by using a cardboard cut-out during filming.
