Sosok Ketiga attempts to blend psychological suspense with supernatural mystery, wrapped in a dark and unsettling atmosphere. The film moves at a slow pace, full of ambiguity and eerie silence, which adds to its tension. Its use of sound and silence is effective in creating an ominous mood.
However, the film lacks strong character development. The main characters often feel shallow, with unclear motivations, making it difficult to emotionally connect with them. The plot is relatively predictable, though it's presented as if it holds deep secrets. Emotional scenes that should resonate fall flat due to weak execution.
Visually, the cinematography and artistic direction are solid, reinforcing the bleak tone. Yet, inconsistent pacing and clumsy scene transitions can break the immersion for viewers.
In summary, Sosok Ketiga shows promise as a local psychological thriller, but doesn't fully deliver. It's worth watching for those curious about Indonesia's take on slow-burn mystery, but it stops short of being memorable or groundbreaking.

I guess you'd classify this as an Indonesian folk horror, of sorts.
Bro has two wives, who are best friends.
It seems he knocked up his original wife's best friend after their attempt to have children resulted in a miscarriage.
Though, little does he know...her miscarriage was the result of black magic.
As his new wife had approached a shaman to kill the child, but not hurt her best friend...in a weird attempt to swoop in and steal her man.
Unwittingly pitting dark forces against herself in the process.
I just couldn't get into it, though.
As there's too much drama...and not enough horror.
I was hoping- and waiting- for the horror bits to come around, and kick in.
But they never came to fruition in a way that was anything other than tame.
What little it did bring to the table just didn't do it for me.
Which is why I found the experience a relatively boring one, overall.
The one thing it does have going for it...is some really beautiful scenery!
On top of that, however, I can't say it's anything more than lackluster.
Which is disappointing...because the poster made it look like it might be cool.
