Henshurei: Deleted

There are bad movies, and then there are movies so bafflingly misguided that you find yourself checking your watch every five minutes, praying for a fire drill, a power outage-anything to make it stop. This was one of those movies. If cinematic disappointment were an Olympic sport, this film would take home gold, silver, and bronze

The lead actor delivers every line like they're reading a ransom note. The supporting cast seems equally lost, as if they were all given different scripts from entirely different genres. One character cries in a scene that's supposed to be funny. Another laughs during a funeral. It's like watching a group project where no one talked to each other.

One really feels one is watching a student film effort. A very low budget film is being shot in a cave, and while editing the footage, something is seen that was not seen when they were filming it. Each time they go through editing the film, that something gets more and more evident. As the film progresses, those involved start meeting unpleasant fates. The actors are very one-dimensional, and one will need to read the subtitles. This will not make many people pleased. And what is worse, it is difficult to make a review and get in the required words without spoiling the film. So I have to add words. Which I did.
