Avis à la une
80% of time sleepy boring movie. Very cheap humour. Should be in cagetory for amateur school movies... Pitty, I really was very forward to see it in first days after premiere... Famous actors in the most ever boring cinema movie I ever seen. Trailer was full of funny moment, full of action and comedy, finaly it was all what was in the movie, nothing more. First 80% of time nothing interesting, last 15 minutes quite good, too long monologs, I was really disappointed. Camera good, but the script and director honestly very cheap simple story for very simple people. Now I dont need to go to the cinema to see next slovak movie for a long time...
Very good and very funny, probably the best Slovak movie I have ever seen. Kind of Guy Richie stuff turned Slovak. Fast action, very good camera and a lot of on time jokes, hard to explain, just a must to watch.
The story of Laco is quite typical of the 90ties in Slovakia, incompetent and scared Police, and ubiquitus mafia rules, greeedy politician... Just when an ordinary citizen with a bit of anger management probem, takes it into his hand. The story is still quite real andVela vtipov zanikne pre tych ktory 90te roky neprezili, ale aj bez nich vyborny a zabavny film, ktoreho hlasky su uz teraz kultove.

A fantastic little comedy about a guy named lacko who goes through a series of unfortunate events and ends up familyless and in a wheelchair after the local mafia rob him and dump him down a sewer. He's found by a lovable gypsy named gabo who helps him get better and they both become good friends despite their social differences.
An exhibit goes missing from the museum lacko works at and lacko knows it was the mafia whos behind it and decides enough is enough so with help from gabo he starts plotting his revenge against them using the antique guns from the displays in the museum.
Overall This film was a great watch and it translated over well to english so i got the story and all of the jokes without a problem. It's a very straight forward plot so it's not a thinker and very easy to follow. There's some great comedic moments scattered throughout that you really can't help but chuckle at and most importantly all the characters are very likable. I'm so glad i gave this a chance and would advise anybody whos not sure to give it a go anyway because it's definitely worth seeing.

I was sceptic of going to an Slovak comedy movie because usually they aren't funny or good in any other way but Invalid was an amazing movie it wasn't stretched the length was alright i think it could be longer but hey it's still a Slovak movie the humor was dark not too dark for me but something in the middle of dark humor not too dark but not too soft it's not extreme but they make fun of almost every minority that exists the characters are portrayed perfectly the actors were casted as if they were born for the role even the influencers and rappers were acting all right and the soundtrack oh my it was great camera lighting was abnormally good for a Slovak movie. In short Invalid is a must see if you like cz/sk comedy.
I accidentally left this movie out for a long time, and I'm happy I gave it a try not a week after finishing Vedma (2023) a fantasy series brought down by lousy writing.
This movie hits amazingly. The Wes Anderson vibe is feelable in the styling, scenography and music, however the theme that roots in something very known to our culture has its gist of originality.
Only two, two small cringey moments in the whole movie. And even those were followed by a mouthful of laughter. That's amazing, and Dusicka did a great work with the script.
Starting a movie in medias res is brave. But even though the storyline is kinda all over the place, it's still easy enough to follow by anyone (I'd eyeball 12+ years of age).
The choice of locations is marvelous. Doing a movie rooted at the turn of the century is logistically a challenge, but we all know how most our buildings and public services got modernized, right?
What really resonated with me was the occasional kick or two at the inability of the gov't to "fix the bloody pavement" (make everything wheelchair accessible).
Even though I watched this movie alone, I was applauding in the end.
First seeing The Swan - a short, at a film festival, I loved the visuals. It's apparent that's one of Karásek's strong suits, another one being the choice of crew (mainly writing, camera, lighting, but also the location guys) and cast (they all play their parts marvelously, and I wondered multiple times, why I never noticed the main actor before (that's a good thing if you mostly get the same female and male stars every year).
With very little to kick at here, this movie deserves your attention, if you're coming from a Socialist turned "Democratic" country, and want a good police/detective mystery, while you're at it.
9/10.
