Waltz for One

An astronaut flips a switch during a routine check, and a beeping begins from a sensor of some kind. Unfortunately, he can't shut it off and its pulsating sound begins to affect his emotional status. He starts to have panic attacks. He also has limited contact with ground control. It's the solitude and quiet that begin to work on him. My claustrophobic senses went to alert. I totally empathized with his plight.

Basic virtue - the use of the fears of viewer in smart manner. about loneliness, obscure menace, madness, eternal solitude. and the lost of controll in a long dance. the atmosphere. the dialogue. and the memories about classic horrors. pieces defining this short film escaping from the precise rules of specific genre.

Watching this short film in the era of shows like For All Mankind, which have revived interest in the 1960s and '70s space race, it feels like Apollo 13-but with a twist involving the rise of space tourism for the ultra-rich.

The story follows an eccentric billionaire alone in a 1960s-style space module, attempting to set the record for the longest solo flight in space. But as often happens in space stories, things start to go wrong-technical malfunctions arise, and the isolation begins to take a toll on his mind.

The film leaves much to the imagination, but at its core, we're witnessing a rapid descent into madness and the dark consequences that follow.

It's an enjoyable short with a retro aesthetic, a grounded sci-fi tone, and some intriguing twists-but ultimately, I was left wanting a bit more.
