Director Kane Parsons has expressed interest in using actors from the YouTube series if their characters return.

A24 discovered Kane Parsons online and loved the idea of his Backrooms creation. They pitched the movie to him a while back, but because of the Hollywood strike, it was put on hold. It was then revived and Parsons is set to write and direct the film.
