Throughout the series whenever someone picks up a gun or is walking while carrying one, whether it is a revolver, semi-automatic pistol, rifle, shotgun, assault rifle or submachine gun, the guns make very noticeable clicking, clunking, and rattling sounds. A properly functioning gun does not make noises every time it is picked up, moved or jostled; if a gun is making noises like that when moved, then an internal component is broken and something is seriously wrong with it. The only kind of noises a gun might make when moving is if it has a sling, the point where it attaches might rattle a tiny bit, and rifles like the M16, M4 and AR-15 have a small weight in the buffer tube that moves a tiny bit; but these noises are very quiet and could only be heard in a very quiet environment, certainly not over the sound of people walking & talking.
