Came across this one by chance and really happy I did. It blew my expectations away. Wife not usually into these style movies but we both loved it! As someone from the southern US it really felt close to home. May watch it again soon to see if I missed anything along the way. Interested to see more from this film maker in the future.
I get and understand the moral implications of the story, but I am so glad this movie only clocks in at 78 minutes. My god, this movie was so painfully boring. I truly am actually pissed at myself for sitting through it, hoping that something, anything, would happen.
*spoiler* Nope. Just some lightning.

A must-watch. For a sophomore film, it's as visually grounded as an 8th. Although maybe I'm biased because the Southern Gothic and Magical Realism genres are end-all-be-alls for me, but it's an honest new favorite. I'm curious what they do next, if they can maintain this tone and visual intrigue in the future, I'll be buying a ticket again on day 1 to see it. A pretty movie with surprisingly complex literary undertones (shout out to Flannery O'Connor and a tip of the hat to James Agee), I'm giving it a school grade A. And I'm hard to impress...

Death Letter Blues is a great genre bending film that is well acted, beautifully shot, and overall a very engaging entertaining film. It's southern gothic aesthetic was both bold and charming and gave the images a unique sense of place. The characters felt very authentic and unique. Hope to see more from this directing duo in the future!
I really loved this film and how the storylines intersect. Well edited and talented cast! On such a small budget, it's a wonderful movie that shows restraint without compromising effect. I am excited to see what comes next for these young filmmakers and appreciate the huge effort and collaboration these projects take.
