Résumé
Avis à la une
Disappointment is all, the story was perfectly finished, the character lines are logically closed, so why did you decide to continue again, introduce new characters, start a completely different story and somehow connect it with the original one? The answer is simple - popularity and money.
I really love the Star Wars franchise, which is why it hurts me to watch them ruin everything, starting with episode 7 and ending with the future 9th...
Moreover, this is not just a sequel, this is some kind of unsuccessful remake, in which they tried to repeat in a different form all the chips of the 4 part - and it turned out, to put it mildly, ridiculous and terrible...
Did it blow me away? Nope..
It is like any other superhero movie(exception: christopher nolan's batman reboot), only this time it happens to be with star wars background, where the lead character does everything ..visuals were good..and music was good in parts..dialogue just OK..
There is no depth to any character, neither any intensity in the plot nor gripping narration...it was just beeeeeeeep from start to end..
but thats enough to become huge success these days i guess..sad state of Hollywood movies....
Here are some of the bright spots:
-The movie features a couple of the actors from the first trilogy, most notably, Harrison Ford! He plays a prominent role in the movie and does a pretty good job of reprising his role as Han Solo.
-The special effects are great!
Unfortunately, that's about it for the pros.
Here is the list of reasons this movie failed to impress me:
-The story isn't original or well-thought out at all. There will be numerous occasions where something will happen, but seemingly for no reason at all other than to conveniently advance the plot.
-As many people have pointed out, the plot borrows far too heavily from the story lines of the previous movies.
-JJ Abrams was extremely liberal with his interpretation of Jedi lore and use of the Force. This leads to some pretty absurd plot developments and scenes involving the lead characters demonstrating mind-boggling proficiency in using the Force/lightsaber. I mean, these scenes make no sense at all and there is NO attempt to explain or provide backstory as to how said lead characters developed their skills; it's like suddenly they become superheroes within a week, with no training whatsoever.
-The villains are largely forgettable. The main villain looks and acts like a wuss. He is not intimidating at all after his introductory scene. The other villains have barely any backstory or character development.
Overall this movie was a disappointment. I can only hope that the next director doesn't continue in Abram's footsteps, as Episode VII was nothing more than a hollow shell of a Star Wars movie to me.

- AnecdotesIn a real-life parallel to the film Fanboys (2009), Mark Hamill and John Boyega successfully lobbied director J.J. Abrams to allow Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood to see the film before official release, as Fleetwood had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and was not expected to live to see the film's release date of December 15, 2015. Fleetwood was shown the film at a screening in his house, after Disney agreed. Fleetwood died November 10, 2015.
- GaffesWhen Finn looks up at the sky while on Takodana, he observes the real time use of the First Order's Starkiller weapon, which is being used against a number of Republic Planets. Han also looks up and sees the planets' outlines in the sky. Given that this weapon was being fired from a different star system (with the star of that system providing the power), there is no way for Finn or Han to be able to observe light from the weapon in real time, as the light source would be many light years away. Also, they are supposedly in a different star system to that of the republic planets that were the target of the weapon, therefore there should have been nothing for our protagonists to see at all.

Han Solo: What was your job when you were based here?
Finn: Sanitation.
Han Solo: Sanitation? Then how do you know how to disable the shields?
Finn: I don't. I'm just here to get Rey.
Han Solo: People are counting on us. The galaxy is counting on us.
Finn: Solo, we'll figure it out. We'll use the Force.
Han Solo: That's not how the Force works!
- Crédits fousThe first "Thank You" credit (usually dedicated to benefactors of the film or to organizations or locations that gave permission for filming/technical advice/support) is dedicated to "The patient family and friends of the cast and crew."
- Versions alternativesThe end credits music is slightly different on the Blu-Ray version of the film - we get to hear a bit more of Rey's theme than what we heard in the theatrical version.
