Avis à la une
I LOVED this movie. It's a more sexualized adult version of I Saw The Devil. It's a beautifully shot movie, that has a clear message, never give up, and fight for glory. The story was amazing, the only minor negative I can give this movie was honestly, that it had some pro-longed sex scenes. Like her masturbating in the shower, or the first torturing, it was a little bit too long, and it got kind of boring at times, however, it won't kill the movie, and the film is spectacular. I strongly recommend this movie to a fan of extreme cinema. I can assure you won't be bored during this, and I can safely say that this is probably one of the best Asian cinema extreme films I've ever seen, fails under the same boat as movies such as I Saw The Devil, The Untold Story, and Ichi The Killer.
Our main character is automatically loveable, and the movie shows the devastating scars that victims of actual abuse have to go through on daily basis. And then the movie pretty much circles itself with the past and the current time. It was like 1-2 AM, it was too late, and OMG I'm glad I saw this masterpiece. This is a must-watch, and it's an underrated movie in my opinion. This should be in the same hype as I Saw The Devil honestly, they're in the same boat of awesomeness. The acting is perfect, the story perfect, the plot perfect, the lighting perfect, everything here is amazing and it's just sad how underrated this movie is.

There is Takeshi Kitano with the masterpieces like outrage trilogy and also there is Takeshi Miike with awesome movies like ichi the killer, audition and 13 Assassins, then there is this guy Takeshi whatever with Craig like this. Very disappointing.
I got this film because it's about BDSM and has Japanese girls in it (particularly Yuki Mamiya). I heard it was graphic, which it is, definitely beyond what western viewers would be okay with, which is another point that interested me.
I expected a flimsy story line but eventually I got into the story. It's basically about a 17 year old school girl who gets kidnapped one day by her neighbour who has a basement in his home where he rapes her repeatedly and how later in life she works in an S&M club since she seemingly has developed a taste for abuse.
The film does a lot of narration over the scenes to explain her character and how she deals with what happened to her.
You really do sympathize with Naoko, particularly when she is younger as it is something that happens in real life. In that way it can be comparable to the infamous rape scene in Irreversible. Thus you do get wrapped up into it.
It is done in a... not mediocre style but... well given the premise you would picture a story with a lot more moping and scenes showing how broken Naoko is in everyday life. Oscar bait. It isn't that at all if you get me.
I recommend the film if you are mature enough to not get offended by graphic and sadistic sex and can appreciate the monologue of a person struggle with their trauma. It isn't too brilliantly written but it is done well enough.

The entire movie drags along at times painfully slow. Only a small percentage actually can be considered a story or character development. Really not a lot happens. Most is dedicated to seeing some form of sadomasicism. It doesn't give you much sympathy or anger towards any characters participating. I would not say most is very realistic so that may be why. There is quite a bit of female nudity (breasts & butts) but not exciting or titillating either. Other nudity is not displayed at all as opposed to Japanese pixelation. When the story finally wraps up it borders on ridiculous.
The camera work also often seemed like handheld cameras were used. Too much movement. Unnecessary.
I will say the acting is good. But that doesn't save this turkey.
Found this to be an interesting portrayal of what BDSM is. Lots of good bondage and restraint. Interesting story and fairly well done. Not a big fan of subtitles, but it did allow me to follow along with what was being said which is important to the story. Nothing appeared to be overly fake about the intense scenes where whipping and sex were involved. I would have rated this movie even higher but I found the last 10 minutes were stupid and almost ruined the movie.
A decent movie if you aren't upset by blood and beatings. Won't win any awards but is an entertaining movie for those that like the story.
