Animosity

Ya know, this wasn't half bad... within the first few minutes I was genuinely regretting my choice to watch this. I actually didn't even choose it, it just came on next and i let it ride. However, this ended up being a nice little surprise.

Now, be forewarned, this is very low budget and very independent. There is awkward editing, clunky transitions, contrived dialogue and pretty much everything you would expect from a movie of this nature.

The real shining star here was the concept. There was something here that felt a bit like a breath of fresh air. With a seemingly original story line, it made up for many shortcomings here. Also the main woman was quite a good actress as well, I was pleasantly surprised.

You definitely have to have a love for indie cinema to appreciate this but it really is worth a watch. Would recommend.

I only got 13 minutes in before I just couldn't take it anymore. There's effort here, but that doesn't make up for what's lacking. Which is any amount of acting, coherence, or an interesting story. When I got the part where a man had what appeared to be a miniature push broom made of cat hair glued to his top lip, I couldn't take it anymore.

Most times I watch a Tubi movie it's usually not very good. Especially if it's a horror. This was better than expected however. Not sure if it's because I had low expectations or if it was actually really that good but for some reason this movie really got to me. Give it a chance, you might be as surprised as I was.

Heading out to a cabin house in the woods, a married couple looking for some quiet while she scores a new horror movie but as she begins to be disturbed by the neighbor who starts them off on a crazy journey involving the true nature of the trip and how they came to be subjected in a deadly experiment.

This was a pretty decent genre effort. Among the more enjoyable features here is the generally fun setup that comes to show their slow-burgeoning psychosis. The series of strange encounters with their neighbor that shows something is off with him, the even stranger scene with the kid who breaks into the house, and the later scene where she encounters him again in the woods not only creates the kind of atmospheric touches that the area isn't right but also generate the kind of fine action that keeps the suspense going with the unexplained reasoning behind the actions. This all gives the film a generally uneasy tone that builds up rather nicely. That comes off even further in the creepy action throughout the finale which has quite a lot to like. Realizing that the events in question have affected her and those around her, the eventual snap and escalation of violence against those that invade the cabin features some fun, brutal action with the way she attacks and overcomes everyone. The way they fight back which runs concurrently to the series of reanimation or resurrection tactics that come about are hard-hitting and brutal enough to have quite a lot to like, not only keeping the activity high while also featuring solid indie-style graphic violence. These here are enough to give this some likable qualities. There are some rather big flaws to be found here. The biggest issue with this one is the utterly confusing and disjointed storyline that never once makes sense. After discovering what her husband has done and how he's involved in this strange experiment, the fact that they carry on their relationship as normal is completely baffling, much like their secret project in the first place. The constantly reappearing and dying characters is immensely confusing and hard to keep track of what's going on, especially with the lack of clarity in the instructions given which seems to consist of body-swapping of some kind yet doesn't make sense despite an unnecessarily overlong running time more focused on this than explaining what's going on. On top of some limitations that emerge from the low budget on display, these lower this one quite a bit.

"Animosity" was a pretty good movie. There was a couple times I had trouble following along with what was happening & confused but by about 3/4 of the way through it was explained better which a whole lot more sense. Maybe it was just me, but I think that was a goal of the movie to keep the viewer interested and trying to figure out what was happening.

Another issue was that some of the low lighting scenes were very, very dark and I was sure I missed a couple things with that. And then there was some audio that dropped out pretty low to where some of the conversations were missed but if you turn it up any higher, the rest of the movie was far too loud.

These are just a couple things I found to be mostly annoying and perhaps attributed to being confused about what was taking place for part of the movie. But overall, this was pretty good. It was a different plot than usual but did make me think of Steven King's "Pet Cemetery", just not explained quite as well.

The description said something about paranormal activities causing the characters to distrust each other.... idk about that. That doesn't seem very accurate to me...

Give this movie a try. It certainly holds your interest and the acting was well done. I'd love to see a few more reviews of what others thought of this film.
