Movie trying to cover too many bases.

Yeah I get it, this movie wan't made for me. But it's enjoyable enough in a B-movie kind of way if you can look past the religious bits. Or if you're here for the religious bits then you'll probably have a grand old time.

Here's the thing, I like David A.R. White. He's a decent actor with some surprising comic chops and with some not too bad editing makes for a decent action hero. I get that he might not be for everybody but if you like cheese, then he's where it's at.

David plays a travelling salesman who's on the road when the Rapture hits. It's now Mad Max with David, in effect, playing the Road Warrior. And as I said with some decent editing he makes it work. But he's got some kind of secret past where he's some badass mercenary / assassin and this training pops up whenever he needs to kick some ass. Story is pretty basic beyond that. His wife is religious, he's not. She's raptured, he's not. And he now needs to hit the road in an attempt to... do stuff.

Along the way he runs into a group of evil bikers. You know standard end of the world type stuff that you've seen better examples of. The characters felt rather one note but these movies aren't made with characters in mind so much as delivering a message. If you agree with it you'll give it top marks. If you don't, well check out the 1 star ratings for it.

Personally, while it's not something I'd normally watch, I'm willing to give it a 5. It's got a lot of problems. The third act feels rather tacked on. And it's not an apocalypse movie that I'd recommend but it's got it's good points.

Not bad, but not great either.

    Well worth watching !!

This is a film that many people seem to be putting down in a big way.....personally i really don't know why!! From start to finish it keeps you thinking, it twists and turns, the story constantly adding intrigue and wonder. Yes, okay, there are Christian overtones, but why is that deemed as bad?? Are we saying that films with Christian overtones are bad? The acting is fine,Ray Wise puts in his usual fine performance....on the other side of the fence from his previous role in "Reaper"! I initially found myself comparing this to Stephen King's "The Stand", i don't know why as it's quite different and deserves it's own space Like any movie, like any story, we all have our opinions, and we are all entitled to make up our own minds. I say to everyone, do just that....make up your own mind. Apparently there's going to be a part 2....i'm looking forward to it

Not an entirely Rubbish movie despite the preaching

Altogether though I would not recommend this movie for anyone who is not part of the Abrahamic faiths, because the feel good message only applies to them and without that it is a bit on the dreary side (no one in the film seems very happy about anything). If you are of the Christian persuasion what Constantine again

This is one of those films that if it was not a ridiculous proselytising for Christian dogma, would be a fairly typical so bad its good B movie. There is a almost coherent story line, the actors are of the fairly competent TV actor type, and the action dialogue and cinematography were not so bad that I could not watch it to the end. Some times the preaching was a bit much, though I imagine it was more for believers benefit than anyone else. I see there is a Revelation Road 2, which makes sense as this film does not really have a natural end to it without a sequel.

    Meh

I'll prologue this by saying I'm not a Christian. I also don't discount a movie because it was created with a Christian message in mind. A good writer and director can make anything entertaining. This movie had neither.

Not the worst movie I've ever seen. Could have cut out a lot of the preachy God and Jesus bits, and saved a lot of time. The lead actor, David A.R. White, is pretty wooden. I get that he is supposed to be this "man with a past" but watching him attempt to act just leaves me caring less.

If you're bored and are looking for some noise in the background, not a bad choice. Just tune out every time someone starts to talk about religion.

    Just bad

I was hoping for a good post-apocalypse movie on Netflix but instead I found this.

    Bad acting, worse plot.

Imagine Mad Max as re-imagined by the writers of daytime soap operas. Every line of dialog is cheesy and uninspired. Characters have zero depth and follow very boring and stereotypical. Villains are a rip off of any 'bad-biker' genre you can find. Cinematography is that of cheep B-Rated make-for-TV movies.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen, and that's saying something!

Not even thinly veiled, pure Christian propaganda...

Themes like religion can make for some really good movies, this is just an hour plus of being preached to.

Narrator: The end of the age: Some men fear it as a time of destruction, while others welcome it as the ushering in of grace. For ages they tried to warn us of its coming. They told us both to beware and to rejoice. Over time this revelation has been rejected, diluted, ignored by all but a few. And the voices of righteous men have been drowned and silenced beneath a tide of wickedness. Years passed, war begat war, greed begat greed, and men laughed, secure in their dominion over the earth. Even as the signs began - great floods, fire, famine, pestilence - they laughed, lost in their hubris. When the end came, it came as it was prophesized - like a thief in the night.
