It has been a long wait ever since the release of single song "Thalli pogathey", ironically, the movie release took a long time.
But its worth the wait.
A typical GVM start to the movie with mature parents, loving sister and a gorgeous heroine to fall in love for - Manjima Mohan
A special mention for that fabulous bike song - Showkali, most of the guys would have booked a Royal Enfield as soon as they got out of the movie.
Such was the presentation and passion expressed.
With romance and song filling the first half, the movie turns into a thriller with some strange situations encompassing a common man.
A colorful first half followed by a contrasting dark second half.
The thrill element was presented beautifully as you will never know what is going to come next.
Unlike usual GVM movies, this movie has got some logical setbacks in the name of "commercial" element. This might give out some mixed reactions. Nonetheless, the movie overall will be a good watch.
Verdict: Go for it...

First of all, as a reviewer , i am from the Minnale generation and everyone knows what a huge hit that movies was back in 2001 which propelled gautham menon to the list of A list directors. Over the years Menon has went on to do multiple stories each with its own distinct plot but driven by his classic crime - love plots after the success of his second film "Khakka Khakka" while introducing new plot driven presentations for each subsequent movie.
You find yourself in an action film complete with corrupt cops and cold-blooded killers. The action which is plot driven rather than stunt driven is intense enough, with a series of close call events betrayal and other action genre elements. In some levels the movie reminds one of Menon's "Khakka Khakka" and "Vinnai thandi varuvaya" movies. The female lead Manjima Mohan is surprisingly good for her debut performance with her Reema Sen like acting style and by far the best of all female leads in Menon's movies
However the strongest aspect of the movie which is plot driven scenes does not come without flaws. At times logic takes a backseat with obviously glaring plot holes. The villains had always been at the forefront in all Gautham movies , however in this one they seem to lack the finesse of Pandiya character from Khakka Khakka or Amudhan from Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. However this can be justified as the villain is from north India and exhibits characteristics different from Tamil villains and this is not a full fledged crime themed movie like "Khakka Khakka". Daniel Balaji who played the main villain in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu plays a minor villain role. It will have been better if he had a full fledged role.
The performance of Simbu, as usual the happy go lucky hero persona, at times seem to be inconsistent especially in the second half but the action plot will quickly distract the viewer from any fault finding.Unlike the director's earlier movies , the romance - crime integration flows in a straight plot rather than alternating between flashbacks as in his earlier movies.
As usual the finesse of AR Rahman's music can be seen here both int he songs and background tracks and he has taken the gautham - menon combo to a new level while retaining the usual feel of their earlier musical collaboration.
Although the film brings nothing new in terms of story other than the usual run of the mill stuff seen in other Tamil movies like "Arima Nambi or Thadayara Thakka , the simple plot driven execution and nuances of romance incorporated into the action scenes is somewhat better done than in other movies and carries the classic Gautham Menon touches. However one cant help having the nostalgic feeling and a story or plot that looks and feels like the early 2000s menon movie.
Overall watchable for the thrills , music and plot.

1st off, I love the writing of this story. GVM is a real awesome writer and director. Man i just don't know but i love this movie very much though some of friends didn't like it. Then comes the cast. Casting STR is one among the best thing for this movie. He totally nailed his character. Then the supporting actors and Manjima Mohan, everyone did a great job alongside. The 1st half was going really good, with all the romance and stuff. You like a girl, then you know talking to her and all those stuffs. Then the 2nd half. Filled with action yet still carries the aspect of romance. A perfect written and executed film. The screenplay was awesome. The music part. Man I shouldn't even talk about it. ARR literally scores everywhere. The songs, the bg score, the way he fits in the music in the movie. Just a must watch suggestion from my side.
The movie stays thrilling till almost the end. The ending was illogical and commercial. Seemed like the writer himself didn't find any solution to the problem he showed in the movie and then decides to give it a happy ending by any means.
The only reason you should watch the movie is the soothing music of A. R. Rahman.
