Avis à la une
Really can not identify with the negative reviews. I am happy I didn't check these beforehand, because I tend to not watch movies that are rated under 5 average. Picked this movie as we ran out of other Christmas movies and didn't expect much. But I was happily surprised and really enjoyed the movie. It had an eighties vibe, the girls all acted credibly and it was a nice surprise seeing Luke Perry as a dad. I laughed and felt sad at times. In total a perfect movie to watch with small children (age 7-9). If you like old skool adventure/christmas movies, please do consider this one because it is not half as bad as you're being told here.
K-9 Adventures: A Christmas Tale is primarily a silly family film. A police dog tries to apprehend a duo of robbers and is left for dead.
Kassie Stevenson arrives in a new town where her father is the new bank manager. She has to attend a new school, make new friends as well as getting involved with the church choir. She finds a wounded police dog and with her older sister takes care of him.
It just so happens that our duo of robbers posing as security guards are targeting her father's bank, especially the money the choir are raising for charity.
The film tries to ape the kids Disney television movie formula. Singing in form of the choir, school rivalries especially between Kassie and the rich kids, faithful dog companion and of course the dastardly villains.
Its probably enjoyable for younger viewers, the actors playing the bad guys were too broad and silly. The younger kids are effective when they band together but it never gels and at the end when the dog's real police handler who incidentally seemed to have done little to look for the dog when he was injured shows up, it looks like a real punch in the gut.

I saw this movie's sequel, K-9 Adventures: Legend of the Lost Gold, long before I saw K-9 Adventures: A Christmas Tale (this movie's REAL title - LOL). I liked it, and eventually saw this as a result. And it's even better than the second one!
Kassie Stevenson and her family have just moved to Heber Valley, and is the "new girl" struggling to fit in at school. She soon finds a lost and injured dog, whom she doesn't realise is a police dog named Jake. She takes him in and names him Scoot. She becomes active in the local church choir in a similar fashion to "Sister Act".
But what she doesn't realise is that Scoot was lost and injured chasing a couple crooks - who are now targeting the Heber Valley Bank.
The movie's kinda cheesy, and certainly not "great movie" material. But, it's handled surprisingly well, and is actually really good. A definite Christmas movie.

The unnatural dialogues felt absolutely like they're read from a paper, no sense like those people were interacting like normal human beings.
The most emotional moments were probably acted better during rehearsals. Dialogues are probably written by the producer's newspaper boy, I can't believe someone paid for that.
Call me grinch for criticizing a Christmas kids movie, but lots of good things could have been done with those money.
A good heart warming family movie that can be watched by all ages. The dog in the movie, "Scoot" is a Belgian Malinois (Pronounced as Mal-in'-wah). This breed is primarily used for police work or in the military, not advised to be used as a family pet. This movie turned that breed's characteristic all around by having the Malinois choose a family life over police work! There were several obstacles that were overcome; new kid in town syndrome, kids working together for a common good, foiling an attempt by the bad guys, and of course removing a breed stereo type characteristic from the dog. I particular found it interesting because we are raising a Malinois as a family pet.

- GaffesWhen Kassie enters the church for the first time, Pastor Bailey is giving a sermon while the adult choir sings in the background. When the choir is shown by itself, they are indeed singing the music that is heard, but when the choir is shown in the background with Pastor Bailey giving the sermon in the foreground, the choir members are not mouthing the words to the song being sung.
