Such a unique and interesting anime. Much content too. Great character development. Recommend to anyone who likes ancient war movies and anime in general.

I would give it a 10star if it wasn't for the animation. It took me a few episodes to get used to it but now I hardly notice. The story, on the other hand, is amazing. It really surprises me the show isn't more popular. I recommend to anyone looking for a new show.

First few episodes feels shaky due to animation but you get used to it. Impressive story, great characters design, excellent plot and most important thing is you won't feel tired or clumsy or lazy during watching this anime.

Kingdom anime is just one of the media with which the story is presented. The manga is ongoing, 762 chapters and counting. The live action film is on its third installment but available only in Japanese theaters. It's a franchise that will not likely reach Kimetsu No Yaiba or Attack on Titan levels internationally with the stark absence of English translations, but for a huge fan like me, it is worth crossing the language barrier for.
Chinese war drama in the hands of mangaka Yasuhisa Hara. This is what it is. Many of Hara's characters jump straight out of history, and they transform into larger-than-life generals, kings, vassals, and scholars, warriors, courtiers, in often flamboyant costumes and hairpieces. The two main leads, orphan warrior Shin and 31st King of Qin Ei Sei, carry the heart of the series (these two are the least flamboyantly dressed tough), and through their stories, together or apart, they share the goal of unifying the warring states and ending war for good.
There is some criticism about the inconsistency and cartoonish aspects of the anime, but that can be overlooked as the story unfolds. Overall, Kingdom is epic storytelling, and I can see many more chapters, seasons, and movie sequels on the horizon.

It is really underrated, I know, the first season is awful because of the 3D/CGI animation, but the storytelling, characters, plot, wordbuilding and every else is simpli magnificent, watch the show, it worth the time. By the way, this show talk about the real history in China, the battles, the characters and the places existed 2000 years ago.

Stumbled across this one, and I'm kinda glad I did, the first 3 episodes the animation was kinda wonky 🤔 like a low-budget CGI or something, but after that it cleans up really well because they ditched the cheap CGI
The story, although fictional itself, is based off an actual time period and a way of life, and some characters are based off real people
Give it a shot you'll probably like it, I tend to throw it on when I'm eating a quick meal, or just about a hour before I turn in for the night
At least watch the first 10 episodes to get a feel for it, upon writing this review that's where I am.

The cover art isn't impressive. Xin looks flat, 2D. Which good anime doesn't have a good cover. Well, this one doesn't. And first few episodes frankly was not gripping. But it is loosely based on the history of the first emperor of China. That made me stay. The story must be good at the very least. Turns out i got used to the style of animation, and in fact it did improve after 30 episodes or so. But please do not judge it for the animation, still. I think it fills a void in anime as there isn't much out there with strategy on the battlefield and rich historical backgroud. There are a few interesting characters whom i hope gets to be developed. Still halfway through.

This anime will make you energetic, the actions are always so amazing and the story is pretty rich. The war scene really genuinely make you feel like this is how a Japanese war is like.

One of the best anime that I watched. I wish there is announcement for season 3 anytime soon. It's been 5 years since season 2

The best continuous anime that you can see in your life, the first season you have to get used to CGI, and the second season will improve the drawing and become better, especially with the fourth season, the drawing in it is similar to the drawing of Wit Studio, frankly, the anime is oppressed and needs more attention than that, and readers of the manga say that the fifth season will be the strongest season and frankly I I am excited about him, especially with the new and bloody drawing that is coming from the studio itself. Awesome work and great music. I hope the work continues and doesn't stop.
This is one of the greatest anime in the world season 1 and 2 had a little animation problems but still managed to blow my mind and season 3 animation was good which is also one of the best season in the history of anime right now.

A masterpiece in the most literal way. It deserves 10x more attention than it receives, and for some reason I don't understand why it's not hyped more.
This is a review for overall all of Kingdom up to S5. S1 has that nasty cgi that can put you off, but that is for half of the season only, and then it gets much better. Story is already fantastic, S2 has a lot less of the cgi and the story gets better and better. S3 might be one of the best season in anime that I have watched, it is simply astonishing in magnitude, character development, it plays with your feelings and keeps you on the edge. One of the best arcs in anime that I have ever seen.
S4 and S5 are also packed with drama and fights, and maybe not as good as 3, but they are amazing in their own, everything develops, characters grow. S4 has a fantastic duel of words between Ryo Shi and Ei Sei where the king has such a winning speech that brought tears to my eyes, it moved me deeply. I never imagined that a duel of words could be so good.
I've made this review long it seems, but if you ever have a chance to watch Kingdom, go for it, it deserves so much more love and hype. I watched 140 episodes in a week off, and I can't wait for more honestly.

I would definitely recommend this show to everyone interested in China's Warring States period, as well as anyone who loves history (which would be me). Both manga and the show are very good, the manga author has done a great deal of research in history, and that historic research and detail is shown in anime as well.
With all it's historic seriousness, the main hero's clumsiness was like a comical relief to me and I kept laughing at his antics.
Just like the other reviewers mentioned, the animation itself needs a lot of improvement in the beginning: some reviewers mention mistakes in season 1 only, I noticed some very glaring animation errors in season 2. But I am willing to forgive the poor early animation, since the storyline and voice acting are excellent.
One reviewer was complaining about bad English dubbing.
I watch anime in sub only and the VA's are excellent, my favorites are Masakazu Morita and Hosoya Yoshimasa in this show.
Please give this show a try: you won't be disappointed. While you are at it, read the manga as well!

I'm 30 years old and this is one of very few anime I would actually beg God to make it run to the end. This anime is that good. Incredibly well made and well balanced. Very realistic and mature. The plots and battles have you on the edge of your seat! There's no super powers but some characters and incredibly strong or very fast in an inhuman way. The beginning is a little rough but once you get past it you have over 150 episodes of awesomeness. Im a Dub watcher I really hate subtitles but I tolerate the subtitles for this anime. It's that worth it. If this got discontinued, I would go as far as reading the manga, and I absolutely hate to read as ridiculous as that sounds. There are not many shows that I would go as far as reading the manga to find out what happens. Manga is just not my thing. I love to watch anime but reading has always been a struggle. I think that's really saying something about how good this is.

At 38 episodes, this one takes a while to get going...and there is season 2 planned (don't know how many episodes this time), but if you can handle this many, then you must be into it and more will just be welcome...
The story starts with 2 young orphans, Xin and Piao (pronounced 'Hou'), who live in China in the state of Qin during the warring states period and who fight each other every day with practice swords and dream of becoming great generals...one day a nobleman sees something in one of these orphans and decides to offer him a brighter future...the 2 orphans go their separate ways and adventures await them...
I could go into a lot more depth here, as this is a long and detailed story, but I'll leave it at that...the animation is good, the characters are well developed and the action is balanced with an interesting story. As for how accurate it is, I'm not super knowledgeable about feudal Chinese history, so I can't say either way, but it makes for fun to watch! Just be prepared to sacrifice a lot of time on this one...

Don't know why it's getting so many great reviews, the animation quality in the first season is almost unbearable. The story might be okay, but you're better off just reading the manga. Which, these reviews aren't about. People are refusing to be honest for some reason.
It feels mostly inspired by Berserk without the demons, with Chinese lore intertwined. If you don't want to waste your time on the horrible animation for 100 episodes, just read the worthwhile manga instead.
Overall, it's good to have in the background while you're doing other things, but not something I'd waste popcorn for, very generic plot armor and predictable storyline. The world building and relationships are okay. But, nowhere near as amazing as everyone else is trying to make it sound.

The most underrated anime Anime Kingdom often flies under the radar despite its rich storytelling, unique characters, and stunning visuals. Many viewers overlook it in favor of more mainstream titles, missing out on its intricate plots and emotional depth. The blend of fantasy and adventure, coupled with well-developed character arcs, creates a captivating experience. Additionally, its themes of friendship, loyalty, and perseverance resonate deeply with audiences. The art style, while distinct, may not appeal to everyone initially, but it grows on viewers as they become immersed in the world. This combination of factors contributes to its underrated status.
