Am Ende - Die Macht der Kränkung

I watched this show on "Walter Presents" on PBS. I was immediately hooked, although this will not be everyone's cup of tea. It's a subtle exploration of an issue that eventually affects all of us, though we seldom think about it until it's too late. That's how our behavior and treatment of others throughout life affects them and future generations, like a widening and increasingly subtle series of ripples expanding outward from us through time. Only by realizing this effect can we dig ourselves out from our egotistic self-centerdness and live a truly meaningful life.

This sounds a bit too deep--the show dramatizes and analyzes family dynamics in fascinating and not-at-all obvious way that I found revelatory. It makes you think while entertaining with an interesting series of stories loosely hung together on the death of one not-so-nice family member who came to realize his effect on others a bit too late to do much about it.

I strongly recommend this series to viewers who are in the mood for thoughtful drama that examines the human condition.
