Avis à la une
A Vampire in the Family is a cinematic catastrophe that fails spectacularly on all fronts, delivering a tedious, poorly executed, and ultimately pointless film. From its uninspired plot to its cringeworthy acting and cheesy music, the film is an insult to the audience's intelligence and patience.
The story, if you can call it that, revolves around a seemingly normal family that discovers their long-lost uncle is actually a vampire. What follows is a painfully slow and uneventful narrative that lacks any excitement or suspense. The characters are flat and uninteresting, their interactions devoid of charisma or emotional depth.
The acting in A Vampire in the Family is abysmal, with the cast delivering performances that range from wooden to downright cringeworthy. The dialogue is atrocious, filled with forced humor and clichés that fail to elicit even a chuckle. The cheesy and unoriginal music only adds to the film's overall sense of cheapness and amateurishness.
A Vampire in the Family is a truly dreadful film that is not worthy of anyone's time or attention. It is a waste of time, a waste of resources, and a waste of your mental faculties. If you are looking for a good horror film, avoid this one at all costs.

Very fun but very silly/stupid fun. This was the point of the movie. It is not a cinematic miracle because its point is NOT to be. It is a movie you put on when you do not want to think about anything and just laugh at something very very silly and, most of the times, predictable. Of course, the plot was not a masterpiece and the acting was very exaggerated especially from the "main" character, but it is exactly like any far-fetched comedy movie. I would say it is a very decent movie to watch when you just want to laugh a little and maybe watch it with someone that also gets and appreciates that silly humor, it is even better.
...at being really really stupid. That's the only reason I gave it a generous 5 stars - because what if it were supposed to be as awful as it is. If I never see another movie or television show with that awful lead actor in it - Leandro Hassum - it will be too soon. Even though the director of this stink bomb probably encouraged everybody to over act, Leandro went way way beyond that. Jerry Lewis would have been embarrassed for him. Maybe I'm being unfair. Maybe this movie was targeted to a 10-13 year old demographic. How insulting would that be to10-13 year olds? Assuming this crap would be all that their prepubescent minds could digest or find entertaining. No, this movie is a disappointment on so many levels. I would only hope that my kids thought so also.
An unapologetically silly Brazilian comedy follows a disgraced ex-footballer who discovers his unwanted-houseguest brother-in-law is an acolyte of Count Dracula. There are several clever insights about extended family dynamics but overall this movie doesn't seem to want to be taken seriously as an extended comedic metaphor or anything else. It apparently just wants to be a dumb fun diversion, and it generally succeeds. The main character's constant overacting and mugging for the camera can be grating. Otherwise this is an enjoyably goofy midtier comedy in the mold of The 'Burbs and Little Evil.
Yes, this movie is silly. Yes, it's even very silly. And that's the whole point. At no point does it take itself seriously. Cast overacts. Situations are absurd. The wife walks around in bikini top all the time because she can and she has something to show.
Take it as a mindless way to spend an hour and a half and you'll enjoy it. It's absolutely not the movie you'll watch twice, or even remember the plot next week. But it has good laughs, cast that just rolls with the absurd plot and in that regard decent performance.
Vampire lore is touched upon briefly and mostly turned into another absurd scene. Offering a vampire some garlic bread? You can imagine how that goes......
