Netflix Doubles Down On Mexican Film: New Slate Includes Diego Luna In ‘México 86’ & Adaptation Of Carlos Fuentes Novel ‘Aura’
Image
Exclusive: Netflix has greenlit six Mexican movies, including México 86, which stars Diego Luna and tells the story behind Mexico landing the 1986 World Cup.

Also on the streamer’s slate are pics from Jorge Michel Grau, Rodrigo García, Ariel Winograd, Alonso Ruizpalacios and Maite Alberdi.

“Our commitment is real,” Carolina Leconte, Netflix’s VP of Content for Mexico, said in an exclusive interview with Deadline about its plans for local film and series.

She referenced its pledge earlier this year to spend $1B on Mexican content over the next four years, its investment in the iconic Churubusco Studios, and a Creative Equity fund it has set up to open doors for the next generation of local talent.

“Mexico is a diverse and rich country, full of unique and authentic stories still waiting to be told. Its talent – both behind and in front of the camera –is renowned globally. That’s why today,...

After 19 Years, "Overwhelmingly Positive" Steam Game Is Finally Complete
Image
After 19 long years, the physics sandbox title based on Half-Life, Garry's Mod, has been granted permission to use files from Valve's other titles. The game originated as a Half-Life mod and let players use assets from the game to create virtually anything they want, from new maps and game modes to entire movies filmed in-game.

Over time, Garry's Mod has expanded to include assets from Valve's other titles, like Counter-Strike and the Half-Life sequel. However, although the game is now a standalone title, it required players to own at least one Source engine game, and certain assets needed fans to have specific titles owned on Steam in order to load.

In a new update shared on the official GMod website, developer Facepunch Studios has announced that this is no longer the case. As of this update, players will no longer need to own any Valve titles for their assets to load.

Don't Sleep On This Free Steam Game Branded The "10/10" Fans Have Been "Waiting For"
Image
A free game called SurfsUp is making waves on Steam, with players branding it a must-play. It's a full game based on the surfing maps popularized by Counter-Strike, with plenty of features to keep fans of the game mode engaged.

SurfsUp was recently released on July 7, and appears to be a solo development effort by Mark Arneman. In the user reviews on SurfsUp's Steam page, players like MrGreen call it "Excellent," giving it a score of "10/10." Rose says, "This is the surf community we have been waiting for."SurfsUp is gaining some traction with a Very Positive rating based on its reviews, and appears to be a destination for veteran surf players.

SurfsUp Impresses Fans Cs Surf Has Come A Long Way

SurfsUp may appear niche at first, building on a modder-created game mode from Cs, but it's getting some great attention from longtime players while simultaneously being approachable for newcomers.

Expedition 33 Devs Are Straight-up Daring Speedrunners to Tear Their Game Apart
Image
We can all agree that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a gorgeous narrative-driven game with tough boss battles. However, we all know about the segment of players who like to challenge themselves to beat the game the fastest. You guessed correctly, it’s speedrunners.

While some developers frown upon the existence of such players using glitches to break the game, Sandfall Interactive isn’t one of them. Moreover, the developers themselves want to see how players will break the polished game to do something unthinkable. So yeah, Expedition 33 officially has a speedrunners allowed tag.

Quality Over Quantity: I’m Amazed an 18-Year-Old Valve Game Still Has More Players Than Destiny 2 Right Now
Image
Valve hasn’t launched a new title in forever, and Deadlock is still in early access, but their silence hasn’t stopped players from revisiting their older gems and having fun. What if I told you that a two-decade-old title from them is currently dominating Steam Charts over the likes of Destiny 2?

You may be looking at me like I’m the G-Man, and frankly, I don’t blame you, but this just goes to show that Valve has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to making games that stand the test of time. I expected nothing less from the mastermind, Gabe Newell.

More players are playing Team Fortress 2 than Destiny 2 right now

According to Steam Charts, over 42,000 players are playing Team Fortress 2, while Destiny 2 has just over 16,000 concurrent players at the time of writing. Of course, these numbers will update every second, but it’s still...

Team Fortress 2 Meets Half-Life 2 in This Epic Mod, Now Arriving Officially on Steam
Image
Team Fortress 2 might have been given up by Valve, however, fans are doing whatever is necessary to keep their favorite title alive. Even if it means mixing up two of Valve’s most popular projects together, Half-Life 2 and TF2. Yes, that is actually a thing, and it is called Lambda Fortress.

Thanks to Valve officially releasing the source code of Team Fortress 2, modders can create a spinoff that no one even thought of. Well, sort of. Still, it’s a fun mix that collides both worlds to create a new one. Checkmate, Valorant!

Dreams Do Come True: Valve Buys Fan-Made Counter-Strike 2 Map in an Industry First Move
Image
It’s a good day to be a Counter-Strike fan because Valve has officially purchased the fan-made Counter-Strike map Cache in a first-time move in the franchise. If you don’t know why that’s a big deal, then all you need to know is that Cache is one of the most iconic maps in the franchise, and we’re hyped to see it come back.

On May 23, 2025, Shawn “Fmpone” Snelling, the map’s co-creator, confirmed the acquisition after weeks of speculation following Cache’s addition to Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) via the Steam Workshop back in March 2025. Will we see it in the upcoming Major? Probably not, but we can’t wait to see the pros on it.

Will Team Fortress 2 Be Ported to Source 2? Latest Updates, Rumors, and What to Expect
Image
Eighteen years later, Team Fortress 2 still refuses to retire gracefully. The granddad of hero shooters keeps chugging along on the aging Source engine, defying logic and modern gaming conventions with equal stubbornness.

But whispers of a Source 2 port have grown louder since Counter-Strike made the jump. Could TF2 be next in line for an engine upgrade? The answer isn’t as straightforward as you’d hope. Valve’s mixed signals have left the community guessing and “coping” harder than they’d like to admit.

Current status of Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 occupies a peculiar position in Valve’s portfolio. Despite launching in 2007, it consistently ranks among Steam’s Top 50 most-played games, proving that good design ages better than fine wine.

Yet Valve’s official stance on a Source 2 port remains frustratingly vague. The company hasn’t announced any plans for an engine upgrade, preferring to let the community speculate while...

Rainbow Six Siege X Looks Like Ubisoft’s Final Weapon Against Bankruptcy
Image
From being hailed as heroes of the gaming industry to being called clowns of the gaming industry, Ubisoft has seen everything. Many predicted that the company would be done for soon, however, the reveal panel of Rainbow Six Siege X does change the narrative a bit.

Earlier in 2025, Ubisoft declared that its shooter game would be going free-to-play and be rebranded as Rainbow Six Siege X. Thus, marking the beginning of the “next ten years” of the shooter that everyone loves. Moreover, it is the only profitable game they have had recently, so it might be their final weapon against bankruptcy.

Your Next Cozy Game Obsession Is Already Climbing The Steam Charts In Early Access
Image
New cozy game Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is already proving to be a big hit on Steam despite only releasing in early access, going toe-to-toe with more high-profile releases. The game from Level-5 is a so-called slow-life RPG which lets you enjoy an idyllic fantasy setting while seamlessly switching jobs to curate every aspect of your island.

Fantasy Life i has only been released into early access for those who purchase the deluxe edition, but it's already cracked the top two on Steam's Top Sellers chart (via IGN). This puts Fantasy Life i above the recently released Doom: The Dark Ages and breakout RPG hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, an incredible achievement for a relatively obscure cozy game. Counter-Strike 2 Fanbase Has a Vendetta Against One Iconic Weapon for Being Ruthlessly Inaccurate
Image
The Desert Eagle, affectionately dubbed the “Deagle” by the Counter-Strike 2 community, is one of the most recognizable weapons in the entire franchise. It’s easily the most popular pistol among fans due to its one-shot headshot capability and potential to turn the tide in eco rounds. It looks sick, too.

But one problem that players have always had with the gun is that the recoil on the gun is absolutely terrible. There is a certain way of using the Deagle that requires you to learn not to spam it when shooting, and also be completely still. But even then, it often feels like the Deagle is just inaccurate, no matter how you shoot it.

The Deagle is a hard weapon to master in Counter-Strike 2

The Desert Eagle’s identity in the Counter-Strike franchise is well-established. It’s powerful, flashy, and notoriously difficult to master. In Global Offensive and now CS...

Fortnite on iOS No Longer Happening After Apple’s Checkmate on Epic
Image
Epic Games and Apple had been in a legal tug-of-war ever since 2020. CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has accused Apple of weaponizing their App Store to monopolize the market. To this date, the battle rages on, and it seems Apple has taken its stand against Epic Games by blocking Fortnite.

In the words of Tim Sweeney, Apple has blocked Fortnite submission from app review to stop Epic from doing business. Until and unless Apple decides to unblock them, iOS won’t be seeing the release of Fortnite on the platform.

6 Months Since Release, One Map Demand for Marvel Rivals Refuses to Die
Image
Six months into Marvel Rivals’ life cycle, and the honeymoon phase is definitely over. NetEase’s superhero shooter launched to considerable fanfare last December, bringing Marvel’s iconic characters into a competitive 6v6 format that quickly garnered a dedicated player base.

But beneath the flashy ultimates and character reveals lurks a persistent issue that refuses to die: map repetition. While the game has evolved through balance patches, new heroes, and seasonal content, players continue to voice their frustration about getting stuck in the same environments match after match.

The never-ending map rotation struggle

“One feature I’d love is to not have the same map/mode back to back,” wrote Reddit user Key-Distribution9906 in a massively upvoted thread discussing the future of the game. This seemingly simple request has become a rallying cry for the community, with the post itself amassing over 9K upvotes.

The sentiment was echoed with biting...

Counter-Strike 2 May Never Come to Xbox if This 5-Month-Old Steam Box Rumor Is True
Image
Despite being the successor to one of the most iconic competitive shooters on PC, Counter-Strike 2 still has no presence on consoles. And if you know Valve, then you know there is no hope to be had about a potential Xbox or PlayStation release. But what about a release on a console that Valve itself makes?

If you haven’t heard, there have been rumors of a SteamOS console that could be called the Steam Box, and it would be pretty funny if Valve actually released CS2 on it. If there’s really a console running SteamOS in development, then the hopes of Counter-Strike 2 on Xbox or PlayStation are fully buried.

Counter-Strike 2 isn’t coming to console anytime soon, or is it?

When Counter-Strike 2 first came out in September 2023, it was pretty clear for most of us that it would be a PC-exclusive experience. Unlike Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which eventually made...

Valorant Clarifies Phoenix’s Younger Sister Mary Won’t be a Playable Agent
Image
If you’re a Valorant lore hunter, then you may have noticed a hint in Patch 10.07 about a message from Phoenix requesting communication with someone named M. Adeyemi. Since Adeyemi is Phoenix’s own last name (Jamie Adeyemi), we speculated that it could be a family member of his. And we were right.

Just hours ago, Valorant’s Senior Creative Director David Nottingham confirmed through an update that Mary is, in fact, Phoenix’s sister and will be the newest character to be introduced in the game’s lore. But one thing to note is that she is not planned to be a playable character, at least not for now.

Is Counter-Strike 2 Available on Xbox Series S|X and PS5? All Platforms Explained
Image
Counter-Strike 2 has been continuing Valve’s greatest Fps series ever since it came out back in 2023. The Counter-Strike franchise has been considered to be the godfather of multiplayer experiences, which became a standard for other developers to follow suit and develop similar multiplayer titles.

Valve has continued to refine Counter-Strike 2 with updates and patches to ensure that players get the best competitive and casual multiplayer experience. With the game now being switched to Valve’s Source 2 engine, many players are left wondering if this means anything for a potential console release.

Is Counter-Strike 2 available on Xbox Series S|X and PS5?

Counter-Strike 2 is unfortunately not officially available on Xbox Series S|X or PlayStation 5, and it is a PC-exclusive title through and through. Valve’s focus has always been on PC since its inception, and with Steam being only on PC, the chances of CS2 arriving on consoles are extremely...

“This game is cooked”: Counter-Strike 2 Player Count Will Keep Dropping Until It Adds One Key Feature
Image
Counter-Strike 2 might be breaking concurrent player count records, but under the surface, every player knows that it won’t last. Despite topping 1.86 million concurrent players in April 2025, the game has more cheaters than ever, and the community is growing tired. If you asked any CS2 player what they want most from the game, they’d say the same thing.

Valve needs to add an actually useful and working anti-cheat for the game. When players are reporting cheaters multiple games in a row and getting no results, you know something’s wrong. And we get a meaningful solution soon, many believe the game is, in their words, “cooked.”

Counter-Strike 2’s player count doesn’t matter if this problem isn’t fixed

Marvel Rivals Players Think This One Major Stat Is Useless
Image
As Marvel Rivals continues to enjoy widespread success, its dedicated players are digging into statistics, and a whole, prominent category may be almost useless as a metric of skill. NetEase's third-person game has become the latest phenomenon in the hero shooter genre, and Marvel Rivals' ranked playlist has predictably become a highly competitive environment.

Marvel Rivals' scoreboard displays a handful of pertinent stats on its in-game scoreboard for the whole lobby to peruse (and maybe use as ammunition if an argument ensues), but a number of players are growing convinced that displaying everyone's accuracy percentage is a useless statistic. Reddit user cal-nomen-official calls it "bizarre" to have accuracy included on the scoreboard, "especially in a game with destructible terrain" where ammo is used on the environment and not foes.

Rainbow Six Siege X Making the Same Mistake That Sank Counter-Strike 2
Image
Exactly one month from now, R6S will be called Rainbow Six Siege X and will go free-to-play on June 10, 2025. While that seems like a good move in some ways, it might end up like Counter-Strike 2 did. Being an avid player of the game, that fear has been growing for a while.

Additionally, the market already has too many free live-service shooter games. Which also raises the question, “Can Ubisoft keep up with the likes of Marvel Rivals, Valorant, and others?” Either going free-to-play is the best decision ever, or the worst. In simple words, Rainbow Six Siege X is a gamble from Ubisoft.

23 Years Ago, the Best WW2 Shooter Written by Steven Spielberg Changed Gaming Forever
Image
The year was 2002. George W. Bush was talking about “weapons of mass destruction,” Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was swinging into theaters, and PC gamers were about to experience a revolution disguised as a World War II shooter.

Behind this revolution stood an unlikely figure: Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. Fresh off the success of his Oscar-winning war epic Saving Private Ryan, Spielberg wasn’t content with just dominating the silver screen—he wanted to change how we experienced interactive entertainment too.

What followed was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, a game that didn’t just raise the bar for first-person shooters—it completely rewrote the rulebook. Its DNA now flows through virtually every military shooter you’ve played in the last two decades, creating a legacy that continues to shape gaming in 2025.

Fortnite’s live events bring some of the biggest and most important moments in whatever story the season is following. Ballistic Wants to Be a Tactical Shooter Like Valorant and Counter-Strike, but Fortnite Leaving Out Some Key Elements Has Made It Worthless

Since its launch in December last year, Fortnite Ballistic has generated quite a buzz. Even in its early access, it has been praised for offering players a fresh competitive experience with an emphasis on tactical gameplay, similar to Valorant and Counter-Strike.

The sneaky ping trick Counter-Strike developers used to satisfy players

Let’s face it: competitive players can be a bit dramatic when it comes to new updates. Whether it’s a weapon nerf,...

Counter-Strike Remake "Built From The Ground Up" By Fans Looks Fantastic In First Trailer
Image
Modders in the Counter-Strike community announced Cs:Legacy, a fan-made remake of the classic 1.6 version of the originalCounter-Strike with modern visuals, as seen in the announcement trailer. After Counter-Strike 2 launched in 2023 and officially replaced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, this fan remake is billing itself as an old-school experience for hardcore Counter-Strike players who miss how Valve's tactical shooter series used to feel, while including modern technical enhancements.

The trailer touts that this fan remake comes from the developers of CSPromod, a competitive-oriented fan project dating back to 2006 in response to Valve's release of Counter-Strike: Source (via Valve Developer Community). Featured in the first Cs:Legacy trailer are views of older maps with a fresh coat of paint and some bits of gunplay and combat. The developers are promoting Cs:Legacy not as a mod, but as a "fully standalone" game that was "built from the ground up."

Out of Nowhere, Valve’s Most Coveted Fps Shooter Dropped an Atom Bomb Level Twist By Breaking Its Own Record
Image
Somebody needs to call the video game ambulance for anyone but Valve’s Counter-Strike 2, which has surprised us once again after pulling back from the supposed dead and breaking its own record for having the most concurrent players on Steam today.

Counter-Strike 2 has broken its own record once again | Valve

It remains surprising how every time the industry starts to think the long-running Counter-Strike’s hype might be finally dying down, it jumps right back up to claim the crown of the number one spot it proudly owns.

Counter-Strike 2 breaks its own record: Once again Steam’s most played game today was Counter-Strike 2 | Valve

Valve has long been the master of Fps experiences, and breaking the record for the highest concurrent players is nothing new for either the studio or the Counter-Strike franchise. The predecessor of CS2, called Cs: Go, was the title that earlier quite frequently enjoyed the same...

Counter-Strike’s Staggering Skin Marketcap Proves Cosmetics Can Be Valuable Unlike Ubisoft’s Quartz, Which Nobody Wanted
Image
While some companies stumble through the digital economy like a silver-ranked player with their first Awp, Valve continues to show everyone how it’s done. Counter-Strike 2‘s skin market recently hit a mind-boggling $4.27 billion market cap, proving that virtual items can be worth real money—when they’re done right.

This astronomical figure wasn’t achieved through flashy blockchain buzzwords or desperate attempts to jump on the Nft bandwagon. No, this is the result of a decade-long ecosystem that players actually want to participate in.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft‘s ill-fated Quartz experiment sits in the digital dustbin of history, a cautionary tale of what happens when you mistake player wallets for player desires.

When virtual items become more than just pixels

The Counter-Strike 2 skin market isn’t just thriving—it’s exploding. Earlier this month, the total value of all Cs skins reached an unprecedented $4.27 billion,...

‘Counterstrike’ Netflix Ending Explained And Full Story: Did Captain Guerrera Capture Josefo?
Image
If you are a fan of no-nonsense shoot-’em-up outdoor survival flicks like The Losers and Triple Frontier, then director Chava Cartas’ Mexican thriller, Counterstrike, might be right up your alley. This bare-bones, adrenaline-pumping, lean, mean action spectacle, which pits a team of Mexican special forces agents against the dreaded cartel sicarios in the Mexican wilderness, might lack narrative complexity, but doesn’t pull a single punch when it comes to offering delectable, fast-paced, beautifully choreographed action sequences. There is just enough character dynamics and emotional connections sprinkled through the movie to balance out the streamlined, action-heavy plotline. Overall, Counterstrike is aware of its limitations, plays to its strengths, and delivers precisely what action fans seek from their poison.

Spoilers Ahead

Why Did Captain Guerrera Become A Target Of El Enjambre Cartel?

Josefo Urias, the dreaded drug lord of the El Enjambre cartel, has been in the crosshairs of the...

‘Counterstrike / Counterattack’ Netflix Review: A Straightforward Survival Action Film
Image
Movies centered around the military, which are pumped with all flavors of hypernationalism and machismo, have always been, and still are, an easy sell nowadays. If it’s a biopic of someone who gave their life while committing all kinds of war crimes, which were obviously whitewashed to make the narrative palatable for the family audience, then it’s a guaranteed hit. But for reasons I don’t want to specify, because I don’t want to be labeled an anti-national, this subgenre of action films has never impressed me. Now, if you put a small group of soldiers in a forest and make them go through hell, then you have my undivided attention. For starters, there’s Triple Frontier, which is also one of the best heist movies. Da 5 Bloods is a great example too. Factually inaccuracies aside, Lone Survivor is amazing. Despite veering into sci-fi territory, Predator...

“You will cry if you try”: Despite Being Shooters, Mastering Spray and Pray in Valorant Is Extremely Difficult Compared to Black Ops 6
Image
When talking about competitive games, two of the most popular games that come to mind are Valorant and Call of Duty, for completely different reasons. While both games share the genre of tactical shooters, they differ heavily in one department: shooting mechanics.

In Valorant, where precision and controlled bursts are the name of the game, attempting a spray is not only ineffective but also often leads to frustration. On the other hand, in Black Ops 6 players can embrace the spray-and-pray mentality, giving players more freedom and predictability with their weapons.

To understand why spray and pray don’t work in Valorant, players need to know that the game is all about precision aiming and tactical planning.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s Infamous Suicide Squad Meta Harnessed the Ruthless Power of In-Game Economy
Image
In the cutthroat world of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, players have always found creative ways to gain an edge over their opponents. From pixel-perfect smoke lineups to boost spots that defy physics, the game’s competitive scene has seen it all. But in 2017, teams discovered perhaps the most morbidly brilliant strategy yet.

When saving money meant playing with fire… literally. | Image Credit: Valve

It wasn’t about headshots or spray patterns this time. Instead, pro players turned the game’s economic system against itself, using a tactic so ruthlessly efficient that it briefly had tournament organizers scrambling to ban it. The weapon at the center of this controversy? Not the Awp or the Ak-47, but rather the humble Molotov Cocktail.

When pros turned Counter-Strike’s economy against itself

Back in 2017, long before anyone had even dreamt of a Counter-Strike 2, Cs:go’s competitive scene faced an interesting dilemma. The Ump-45, a mere $1,200 investment,...

DreamHack Dallas Creates a Singular Gaming Celebration For All

Picture this: You and your old friends are together for your annual meetup. In your bag is your Magic the Gathering kit, complete with custom mat. It’s a game you always play as a group; it has been since you were little. Walking together, bathed in neon light, you catch a glimpse of another group – they’re playing Street Fighter at an arcade cabinet. A man clad in armor passes by, his broadsword tucked beneath his arm as he manages a hotdog between his gloved fingers. Three dinosaurs startle...
