13 Steps Down

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this after not expecting to. The story was told at a steady pace, the acting was very good.. Luke Treadaway was excellent.

Thankfully it didn't fall into the trap of going along at a good pace then two thirds of the way through leaving all reality and turning ridiculous as a lot of films tend to do nowadays.

Yes there were a few examples of box ticking .. mixed race family etc .... but that is quite realistic as the film is set in London .. if it had been a middle class village somewhere in Hertfordshire then it would have felt more like tokenism.

And it was good see see Gemma Jones who played the Duchess Of Duke Street in the 1970's series of the same name.

Well worth watching if you prefer a more steady paced thriller and not endless fights and car chases etc....

Saw mr Treadaway in mr Mercedes and he was mesmerizing as mr Mercedes so I've watched him in subsequent films and hes a future HUGE star!! He reminds me of Anthony Perkins calm quiet but can be deadly. This film was very well made I believe it was originally a tv show but its worthy to be considered a motion picture. Great cast and well made also love the notting hill setting.

Starting with positives great cast of actors no issues with any of them all been in good things in the past so they can all act.

I liked the concept of the story and thought it might be creepy as well as gory.

The fact is the script , storyline.and all round rubbish way they portray the characters made it look like the cast couldn't act.

I felt sorry for them because at some point they all must have known the film was a load of rubbish.

I am amazed anyone thinks this film is any good but they .are of course entitled to their opinion but I have to say they must be easily pleased.

My advice is avoid this at all costs it is predictable and appalling and most of the scenes are pretty pointless.

Mix Cellini has an obsession with John Reginald Christie, The Rillington Place killer, his state of mind begins to spiral out of control as his obsession with model Nerissa grows.

This seems to be the last of Ruth Rendell's books to be dramatised, which is a real shame, she penned some terrific books.

This is very different to many of her works, it's much darker, bleaker, and ultimately nastier than most of what she's written.

Cellini is a very good character, his mental collapse is well played out, Treadaway is fantastic, he's so impressive, arguably steals the show ahead of Geraldine James and Gemma Jones.

Let's have more Ruth Rendell please, 8/10.
