Pawan Kalyan actually brought the remake rights to Dabangg, but later permitted the producer Bandla Ganesh to make the movie so that the producer can recover from the loss he gained by making Theenmaar.
This movie collected 110 crore gross worldwide and 1st 100 crores movie for Pawankalyan.
After breaking many records at the box office, this action-oriented comedy was later dubbed and released in Hindi as 'Policewala Gunda'.
"Gabbar Singh" created a new opening day box office record and subsequently created new records for the highest grossing weekend and highest grossing first week in the Telugu film industry. It also stands amongst highest openers ever in the Indian film industry.
Though a remake of Dabaang, unlike The Tamil remake Oshte which was a scene to scene copy, this remake made some changes.
