Avis à la une
Spirits and laughter of the glorious and forever nr 1 french comedy ''Les sous-doués'' made in 1980 that almost killed me thrice out of laughter cramps back then... well this is a good number 2, a bit skittish and generic, but highly generous on comedy of pranks.
So if youre as witty as the grumpy old man, that laughs 10 seconds before the moment of truth due to a highly dopaminergic energy wave in the brain, then follow my recommend, strepsils doest clearup a clogged throats like a good laugh does...

With such a deep cast and a potentially quite comical premise, one could have expected something better than this pseudo comedy where nothing works. The movie boils down to a completely disjointed succession of uninteresting scenes, often badly filmed, where the humor is off and where almost all the gags fall flat. The actors try to keep the movie afloat, though their performance are quite uneven: Isabelle Nanty for example is particularly good while Kev Adams is just plain bad. But, overall, how can you blame them when the script and the mise-en-scène are so weak ? With Les Profs, the French cinematographic creation hits rock bottom...
I wanted to watch some good euro-comedy but couldn't find anything and then I stumbled upon Les Profs. It is almost everything I love about French comedies - witty, with awesome characters. It is a story about the school that is about to be closed because every year the students fail to pass the state exam. To save the school a new group of teachers is hired. But they are not your usual teachers - it's the worst teachers they could found. And every one of them has it's own methods of teaching. And wait till you see it! Of course there will be some romance involved as well as some twists in the plot. The end is rather predictable but this is not kinda movie you watch to know how it ends but to enjoy it while it lasts.
It also reminded me about another french comedy -The Under-Gifted(1980) (Les sous-doués) but kinda vice versa because here the teachers do the pranks =)
All in all - it is an excellent french comedy and if you want to spend nice evening with the company of french teens and crazy teachers - this one is for you. Enjoy!

This film had the potential, the idea was good, the budget is there, the actors are there, all you need is a good script, but no, I forced myself to laugh, but the closest I could get is cringes.
My friend highly recommended this one for me, and since I don't understand French, I got it English-subbed. But it wasn't worth all the trouble.
This has a second part, which I am pretty sure won't even consider. 3/10, to recycle bin.

Les Profs sets out to be a chaotic and irreverent school comedy, but ultimately falls short of delivering consistent laughs or engaging characters. The concept, based on a popular comic book, had enough absurdity built-in to allow for something creative. Unfortunately, what we get is a loud, predictable series of gags strung together without much cohesion or real comedic timing.
The film introduces a team of deliberately incompetent teachers sent to fix the worst high school in France-a setup that could've allowed for brilliant satire or at least playful mayhem. Instead, we get cardboard characters with one-note personalities, including Kev Adams playing yet another iteration of his usual "young and sassy" persona. His energy is undeniable, but it's also one of the film's biggest problems-there's no balance, no downtime, no wit. Just noise.
The pacing is erratic, the humor relies heavily on outdated stereotypes and overacted slapstick, and the plot feels like a series of sketches rather than a coherent narrative. Some scenes manage to draw a chuckle, mostly thanks to a few clever visual gags, but they are far too rare to save the film.
Visually, it's clean and colorful, and the cast clearly had fun on set-but the fun doesn't always translate to the audience. It's a comedy that might appeal to fans of over-the-top French humor, but for many, it'll feel like a missed opportunity.
Positive: _A few decent visual gags _Colorful and energetic presentation _Interesting premise with comedic potential
Negative: _Overreliance on clichés and slapstick _Flat, one-dimensional characters _Uneven pacing and sketch-like structure _Humor feels forced and repetitive.
