May-December-January (2022) is a movie from the Philippines directed by Mac Alejandre.

Pol is a gay young man, in love with his friend Migoy.

Pol's homosexuality isn't a secret. However, Pol hasn't revealed to Migoy that he is in love with him.

Migoy is heterosexual, and falls in love with Pol's mother, Claire. This may not sound realistic in a review, but on the screen it works, and it sets up a very unusual love triangle.

This film has an extremely high IMDb rating of 8.9. (It has very few raters, but those that rated it really loved it. 2/3 of them rated the film 10.) I agree with the other raters, and rated the movie 9.

We saw this film as part of Rochester's outstanding ImageOut LGBTQ Film Festival.

The film is successful and very different. And you really need to keep an open mind and not jump to conclusions right away. All three characters were engraved in my soul, and not only because of the way the actors portrayed them, but also thanks to the fate of Pol, I raised the original rating of the story from 8 to 9.

So if someone can process personal experiences in this way, when most people first go through rejection, anger, understanding, acceptance, forgiveness... I am seriously amazed in this picture, this sequence disappears.

The music was sensitively chosen and perfectly suited to the style and character of the project, the processing was very fine and its highlight was the scene of Pol and Migs making love. Beautiful experience ...
