Avis à la une
In this new adventure, Merliah enjoys her life as a surfer on the waves of Australia, while enjoying the seabed as a mermaid. Until a fiercely competitive rival threatens Ocean's safety by unleashing the evil Eris. Merliah will need the help of her friends and the mermaid ambassadors to try to save the ocean and win the surfing competition. Will she make it? Merliah, the surf girl and enchanting mermaid princess, gets her ticket to success in the ultimate surfing tournament, however, when her magical necklace is stolen, Aquellia is in danger.
Cute, like every Barbie movie, super colorful, that always unnecessary female rivalry, but with a cute message at the end, of sisterhood, respect, and healthy competition... Cute... Cute...

Fell short of expectations. This movie follows Merliah's journey as a half mermaid half human princess, however, it doesn't even really follow her journey. It more so follows Kylie's poor decisions and her lack of sportsmanship. It is nice to see her evolve in the film, however no one cares! She was not interesting, and she was quite particularly an ass. The whole movie sucked and just went on and on and on and on, and it lacked purpose. A sequel was not necessary to the first film, and i hardly consider this film it's "successor". It lacks substance, diversity, etc. It doesn't evolve the formula of the first, and just sticks too closely to it's roots. The first film had me on the brisk of excitement. This one had me on the brisk of falling asleep.
I heard from someone that the second movie is better than the first, so I thought I'd give this one a go, and it certainly is. The problem I had with the first movie was how annoying I found Kayla and Xylie, but in this one we are met with an Australian sufer, Kylie. I enjoyed her character, and she played a good role in this film.
Not only that, but I thought it had a stronger storyline too. I didn't have a problem with the first movie's story, but this one is more engaging.
All I can say is this has a better story, better characters, and better music.

Despite being 20, I do get pleasure watching the Barbie movies. They are cute and fun, even they are on the corny side sometimes. I enjoyed the first Mermaid Tale movie, and was expecting similar for this sequel. And on the whole I got that. It could've been longer perhaps, the story does take time to get going and I personally could've done without the fish puns(Karate Squid and Raiders of the Lost Corp). However, the story on the whole is sweet with a nice message, getting even better with the chemistry between Merliah and Kylie, and the stunts are neatly done. The characters are nothing new compared to other Barbie movies, but Merliah and Kylie are likable with a but of sass and Eris is an effective enough villainess. The supporting characters are also very cute. The voice work is solid, with Kathaleen Barr doing a great job as Eris, and Kelly Sheridan getting better every time. I liked best of all the soundtrack, which is catchy with some whimsical moments as well, and the bright and colourful animation. Overall, sweet and entertaining, a good, if not great, movie. 7/10 Bethany Cox
I like the first movie better the animation was better what the heck happened to their faces, the characters were decent but the story ruined the first movie for me

- AnecdotesThe Magic necklace keeps the main color of whomever uses it to transform into a mermaid. It keeps Merliah's pink in her top and tail and Kylie's purple, despite not being a natural mermaid.
