Avis à la une
Ok, so I guess people in high school are 30 now. The rest of the movie wants the pretend it's almost like Saw with horrible acting, lines, etc. This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I can't even rate it on rotten tomatoes. If I could give this "movie" a negative 1000 I would. Punch yourself in the face before you watch this atrocity. And apparently my review is too short to publish. This movie sucks. It's horrible. It's terrible. Those are nice words compared to how completely awful this movie is. It's the worst movie ever made. Whoever funded this is a stupid moron. Is this enough words yet for a horrible movie?
There seems to be some discrepancy as to whether Trap House is a 1 star movie or a 10 star movie. It is both things.
Does the plot make any sense? No. Did the actors do more than one take for any scene? No. Are there more than two sets in the movie? No. Are the traps creative? No.
On the other hand...
Will you be forced to wonder why they couldn't pay a lawn crew $35 to hit the yard of the abandoned school that they filmed at with a weed whip before shooting? Yes. Will you be questioning bizarre character choices? Yes. Is the story so dumb that it will make you feel like your brain is draining out of your ears? Yes. Is there an attic trap door that cuts a guy's head off? Yes.
I recommend it to anybody that doesn't have a stick up their but.

Trap House (2023) is a movie that was recently added to Tubi. The storyline follows a police officer who finds his little brother dead in a crack jouse. He decides to take the law into his own hands and try to uncover who got his brother addicted to drugs that led to his murder. He finds a dealer that can take him to the source of the drugs; but once there, he may need to make his way through an actual trap house filled with booby traps where one wrong step will cause him to lose his head, literally.
This movie is directed by Nicholas Humphries (The Shell Collector) and stars Jaime M. Callica (Hypnotic), Peter Bundic (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Michael Eklund (The Call), Gigi Saul Guerrero (Angry Birds: Summer Madness) and Donna Benedicto (Supergirl).
This is another one of those movies with a mediocre storyline, bad acting and worse dialogue...but fantastic kill scenes, especially at the beginning and end. The police office and his investigation was fairly annoying and not a worthwhile plot. However, the booby traps in this movie were fun and well done. That opening sequence with the shotgun was tremendous. The way the traps were used to set up various scenes at the end were clever. And the final fight at the end is very good, especially if you shut the sound off and just watch and don't listen to their back and forth dialogue. Most of the fight scenes are painful, but the last one was pretty good. This has an Eacape Room feel to it in a lot of ways.
Overall, this had some potential based on the concept and kills but the writing and acting falls short. I would score this a 3.5/10 but recommend watching it once.

What in the world is going on with the two prior reviews? Poor writing. OK acting at times. But nothing that could be considered a breakout role for anyone involved.
Yes, it's horror. The bar often feels lower. But, this film feels like a wasted opportunity at every corner. The premise itself is sort of interesting. But every reveal is a huge eye roll. The acting has moments of "hey this isn't that bad". But then the script says "nah-uh" and removes any and all credibility each character had.
The twist? There were a couple. And they barely made sense. I wouldn't be surprised if ChatGPT did 95% of the work, and the rest was edited in under an hour.
If you're like me, you'll watch it because you're a fan of the genre. But, man, it's like WOW bad at times.

... is reading the 10 star reviews here from friends and families of the film makers. This movie is nowhere being a ten-star movie.
It's obvious that the film makers didn't have a big budget to work with.
Nonetheless they do a good job of working with what they got by being creative. The story deliberately limits the locations to the few required to tell the simple story. In another scene, the lead detective is speaking at the press conference. We never see a crowd of journalists and reporters though. Instead it's implied through the flash of camera lights on his face.
Call it guerrilla film making.
The acting is competent and the horror elements -- the SAW like traps, the gore effects -- are creative.
I wasn't bored, but I would never watch it again.
