Can't believe I wasted money on this!

Stupidly I fell for the image of a monstrously giant crocodile's head and the raving text on the cover of this dvd. Well, it's total bogus, it's nothing more than an amateurish wannabe horror flick that fails on all accounts that matter. The premise is the only decent thing about it: a little group descends in an abandoned mining-cave in search for a lost person, and gets attacked by a herd of crocodiles. Everything else is rubbish.

The CGI-crafted crocodiles are a joke: they vary in size from scene to scene, and especially when running through the cave-corridors in pursuit of yet another screaming member of the cast they look like waggling wound-up toy animals. They not only swim and run, but effortlessly jump through the massive cave walls and iron fences. They swallow people up in one bite, but can also be killed by plunging a simple stick in their jaws.

The cast (it's hard to believe that they are genuine actors) is constantly doing the stupidest things. During their attempted escapes, they time and again freeze in the exact spots where seconds later a croc pops up, instead of keep on running as every normal scared person would do. In the meantime the girls incessantly scream so excruciatingly loud that it makes your ears pop (it's a miracle it didn't chase the crocs away!). Ultimate stupid act: the last surviving girl finally reaches the waiting motorboat, succeeds in hauling herself on board and then does absolutely nothing but lying there and screaming her head off, in stead of doing the only sensible thing: starting the motor and racing the hell out of there! Exasperated I welcomed the closing credits: quiet at last!!

Save your money for some sharknado flick, they are just as silly but at least fun to watch. This meant to be deadly serious failure isn't even camp, it's just a dreary waste of time.

A perfectly cheesy if tonally odd creature feature

After her sister goes missing, a woman gathers some friends and a team of explorers who can lead them through the underground cave system she disappeared in, but when the team finds that a swarm of crocodiles have attacked the first group and turned to them must find a way to get out alive.

This was a perfectly serviceable cheesy creature feature. Among its better features here is the strong overall setup that provides the film with the type of serious approach to a typically cheesy scenario. The whole idea of the group arriving in the caves to find the missing party that had disappeared during the proposed engagement trip but coming across the same group of crocodiles living inside the system trapping them inside and hunted down like the first group is a great way to get this one going. Providing the motivation and reasoning to get the group down there to encounter the creatures while being melodramatic enough to contain a sense of urgency to get them out of the closed-off system makes the setup here rather fun. Featuring the perfect setting for this type of action to take place as well with the overall layout and presentation of the caves as a mysterious labyrinth that continually hides the creatures who can pop out of nowhere with the darkness and confusing maze-like structure giving everything the kind of impressive presentation needed. On top of the fine setup, the slew of cheesy creature feature action when the crocs are given a chance to roam free in the system. The early scenes with the creatures stalking the first party are quite fun as the surprise appearance of them living there and knocking off the group in several fun moments makes for some fun including the first attack on the group while on the sandy outcrop, a brutal scene showing the creature devouring one of the group in front of others who can't alert it to its presence, or swimming after a victim trying to escape in a boat left behind. These scenes are matched nicely by the later encounters where the creatures are shown stalking the new rescue group as the series of chases and confrontations here featuring the fantastic scene at their nesting lair or the final battle using the left-over mining equipment to try to stop them, mixing serious action with goofy CGI or practical effects gives everything the perfect touch and provides a lot to like here. There isn't much to dislike here but it's got a few minor factors here. The main issue with it is the expectedly cheesy and goofy special effects that run rampant in a film like this. Since it's expected to see the hallmarks of the genre come out in full force including size and dimension changes depending on the scene being featured, clunky animation for normal activities, or being forced to perform unnatural motions or behavior to suit the sequence, none of these are truly detrimental but still stick out overall here. The other issue with this one is the generally stiff tempo that goes alongside this type of goofy presentation but causes things to feel somewhat off-kilter, where the special effects have a cheesy action to it while the seriousness of the search to find everyone keeps it far too stiff and plodding for what's going on. This is an odd touch and sticks out here as these are the main factors holding it back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.

Yet another abomination from the Brits

The entire thing was absolutely awful and showed yet another lazy British writer made absolutely no attempt to research his subject or bother to find out even the smallest thing about crocodile behaviour or nature, nor did they even bother to find out about mine exploring or caving.

The acting can only be described as atrocious at best and the actual filming was and lighting was terrible, if you want to keep your sanity or at minimal your common sense stay away from this absolute stinker and go watch ANYTHING ELSE, but this abomination because it is an insult to anyone who watches it and every crocodile ever.

    Laughable...

Of course I was not familiar with the 2023 killer animal movie "Crocodile Swarm", but as I had the opportunity to sit down and watch it here in 2025, I opted to do so. Sure, I didn't harbor the biggest of expectations, as many of these killer animal movies are questionable affairs.

Scott Chambers put together a fair enough script, though it was rather generic even for a movie such as this. But the script was brutally murdered by the subpar special effects.

I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, and the acting performances weren't exactly stellar.

The special effects in "Crocodile Swarm" looked like something discarded from a 1990s computer game. The crocodiles looked half-rendered, as if they couldn't muster to get the texture right. And the way that the crocodiles interacted with the water, or the lack thereof more accurately, was just laughable. It is amazing that special effects so poor got to see the light of day back in 2023.

Even for a creature feature, or killer animal movie, "Crocodile Swarm" was a weak movie.

Would I recommend you to sit down and watch director Tyler-James's 2023 movie? No, not really. There are far better crocodile movies out there, even from around the 1980s.

My rating of "Crocodile Swarm" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

It was so bad it was funny

Lol. Normally when we start watching a movie that's this bad we would have switched it off after a just a few minutes. The acting, the CGI, the directing at best were like it was made by an autistic12 year old primary school student. The CGI in particular looked so bad we laughed. It was like a plastic crocodile model with a doll in it's mouth. We had to keep watching just to see how bad it could get. Get drunk, take drugs or sniff glue before you try and watch it. I'm sure that's what everybody involved in the movie were doing while making it. I've made much better family holiday movies filming on my phone.
