Despite being set after the 1991 film adaptation Le silence des agneaux (1991), this series avoids mentioning Dr. Hannibal Lecter by name due to the rights to the character belonging to another production company. The film rights of the 1981 novel "Red Dragon" and other Harris works are owned by De Laurentis Films and NBC (which aired Hannibal (2013)), whereas CBS only secured the rights to the 1988 novel "The Silence of the Lambs".
The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) Training Academy is located 36 miles outside of Washington D.C., and situated over 547 acres on the grounds of United States Marine Corp base at Quantico, Virginia. The Academy is an institution designed to train future Special Agents and Intelligence Analysts. Ever since J.
