Avis à la une
The movie based on a true crime, but the acting itself is just okay. Filmed in Manitoba is a plus for the Canadian film industry; however the script flow isn't so great. Lea Thompson does an okay job as Cari's mom, and not sure how the real-life story went, but I would think that the mom would be on the case with the cops. Alicia Witt does an okay job as Liz. She is better known as the love interest in Hallmark movies. The cops involved in the case sound really stupid and not tuned into real detective work in 2015. The only reason I watched to the end was to see how the movie ends. A time waster movie at best.
Nice to see Alicia back after, her health & family tragedy..
Use to seeing her more on Hallmark, during the holiday season.
Rather compelling slow-burner psychological thriller, about a relationship gone wrong.
Had me never thinking it was,Cari but either Liz or the ex-wife.. or a mystery third person.
Think this really should make anyone consider, what empty promises & playing the field can do mentally.
Was actually cast and acted decent, which Lifetime movies can be a hit or miss.
Cinematography was ok as well, but locations felt rather dull.
Something worth checking out, nice break from the clichéd plots & storylines.

Car mechanic Dave Kroupa (Zach Gilford) refuses to commit to Liz (Alicia Witt). After Cari Farver comes into the shop, they go out on a date. They both have troublesome others while being non-exclusive. She has a restraining order against her ex. Then people start getting strange texts from her. Her mother Nancy Farver (Lea Thompson) goes to the police.
This is a Lifetime movie. Apparently, there was a real case. This doesn't really work as a mystery. If it's a mystery, the lead characters would be the cops and Alicia Witt wouldn't be pushing as hard. It's not really the standard Lifetime woman-in-trouble movie since Cari Farver isn't the lead or even her mother. This project has three great actors. Maybe it started out as something different, but ended up on Lifetime's lap. I could have been more engaged.

This was another Ripped from the Headlines movie from Lifetime starring Lea Thompson as a distraught mother, who discovers her daughter is missing or worse. Cari Farver, is the subject of the movie but the character is only in about the first 20 minutes of the movie. She suddenly disappears after dating a car mechanic and finding out about a very jealous ex-gf. But where did she disappear to since she's been texting everyone involved in the movie that she just wants to be left alone. Admittedly, the movie operates from a weird premise that she wants to be cut off from her family and close friends and it starts to become apparent to those watching the movie that the whole thing seems off. It was a bit predictable but quite enjoyable considering it was based on a true account. Highly recommended!

- AnecdotesBased on the actual missing person investigation of Cari Farver in Pottawattamie County by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office from November 2012 until May 2017.
- GaffesThe movie is based on a true crime case and the real names were used for three of the main four characters - all except Dave's ex-wife whose real name is Amy Flora. Her name in the movie is Sarah Brower, but when the detective called Dave, near the end, when Liz was in his apartment, he told Dave that "Amy was seen by a neighbor the night of the shooting so she's cleared". The same detective pronounced Cari Farver's name as "Ferver" when he was explaining to Liz the evidence against her near the end.
