GUDETAMA: AN EGGCELLANT ADVENTURE: This series is an adaptation of the Japanese Gudetama anime / manga comics, about lazy egg Gudetama and his sibling Chick who go searching for their mother. I am a big fan of the original Gudetama shorts, and therefore can appreciate the comedy here. Food humor is not for everyone, as they (the personafied food based characters) often rot, get thrown away or get eaten, but it was a hilarious adaptation of the original character, full of slapstick humor and even philosophy. The graphics are really gorgeous and the characters all color and memorable.
"A lethargic, empathetic road movie about finding one's parents - for everyone who just wants to laze about. Having resigned itself to the fact that it will just end up on someone's plate, Gudetama just wants to be lazy all the time."
While this series is suitable for children there are some material that might be better suited for older children, teens and adults. Overall, this was a very entertaining and funny show, both light-hearted and deep, with both dark and slapstick humor, heavy on Japanese flavor, that a follows foods journey around Japan, dealing with family and friendship, life and death.

"Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure" is a Japanese show broken into segments of 10-16 minutes on Netflix. It really is an odd film and will certainly NOT appeal to everyone. After all, Gudetama is a Sanrio character who is a cracked egg...and a lazy one at that!
The show consists of an adorable hatchling running about while wearing a pair of pants made of the egg in which it was recently hatched. This super-adorable chick is in search of its mother and takes lazy and indifferent Gudetama along for the adventure.
I really liked this show. But I also was familiar with the uber-weird character already....others might just be too shocked at its weirdness to know what to think! Overall, a cute show for kids and one that will appeal to SOME adults...provided they appreciate this sort of strangeness. Very well animated and adorable.

I have almost no words to describe this movie. It was an absolute waste of time and internet space, yet I was transfixed to the screen and watched every minute of each episode all in one go. I wish I could have that hour and a half of my life back and at the same time wish that every hour and a half of my life could be spent like this. I swear they let a three year old come up with the characters and plot. And what the Prime Minister?? Just the absolute most random things going on at any given moment, and not of it makes sense. Gudetama's lines are spot-on, never taking the story too seriously. The fact that every egg yolk has very well-defined glutes and nothing else just adds to the absurdity.
THIS is the show to watch when you're depressed, stressed, angry, happy, sad, anything. It makes no sense and perfect sense.

The famous egg from Japan is back, this time with a short 10 part adventure for Netflix. Following a CGI animated cracked lazy egg who has come to life and his friend Shakipiyo, a fertilized hatched chick, the two set off on an adventure to find their mom. Filmed in mostly live action environments with all the anthropomorphized food being CGI (including some full grown chickens), any of the human characters were acted really poorly (even for a children's' show) and the plot left a bit to be desired, mostly in that I wasn't looking for one but they tried to create one anyway. I would have preferred less justification on the purpose of their eggsistence and just got on with the cute adventures but to remind I'm a grown man criticizing a show made for children. All in all, it was very cute, and I think kids would really enjoy it.
A cynical, very blasé egg yolk and an optimistic and goal-oriented chick (who is insanely cute) go on a thrilling adventure to find their mom.
I was surprised by the humour, quite sarcastic and cynical, that will delight adult watchers, as well as the deep, existential topics discussed. I was not expecting to be touched and question my own existence by this kind of animation, but here we are and what a pleasure! It's dark at time, humorous, a bit weird and definitely an excellent watch.
The visuals are truly stunning, kudos to the animators, and Gudetama's and Shakipiyo's voices are perfect.
I would love to see a season 2!
