Avis à la une
An R Rated movie called 'The Threesome' with a decent cast. This should be a fun time, right? Unfortunately not so much. The film set itself up really well. It had a convoluted situation that could go in a lot of interesting directions, and then it just kind of picked none of them and whimpered to the finish line.
The characters in the movie were good. They were reasonably likable and had good actors playing them. It was the script that never let them shine. There was very little charming dialogue and absolutely no laughs whatsoever. I don't think I laughed once.
All in all the film was about as forgettable as they come. 5/10.

This is an example that a movie can have too many twists, the movie was too long for its own good. Overall, the movie is entertaining, think about a Jerry Springer episode that was cleaned up and edited for a more general audience. But the plots and twists were ridiculous for a rom-com. The charm of the actors does keep one watching wanting to figure out what can come up next.
The Threesome felt a lot like the kind of movie Judd Apatow was making back in the day: An unapologetically raunchy and subversive dramedy. It also reminded me of the Netflix show "Love"(produced by Apatow), which was great. You might find the movie a bit frustrating, if you expect it to be a super clever, well rounded dramedy with a brilliant social commentary, because this movie is not that at all, and that's precisely what i liked so much about it.
This is a very unpretentious, self contained type movie, with a pretty straightforward narrative that's easy to follow. I think this was relatively cheap to make (by Hollywood standards), and they probably filmed the whole thing pretty quickly, i liked how authentic and concise the movie was, the direction style reminded me of movies like Juno and other 2000s indie dramedies, that being said the movie also gave me some Jason Reitman vibes.
The main cast was great, specially the two female leads, they brought a lot of charm and nuance to their characters, the guy who played the male lead was also pretty good, all the actors looked like they were having a good time making this movie. The plot fell a bit off the rails in the third act, with some poor creative choices for the characters, it could have been much better, but i liked the overall tone, most of the jokes landed and the romantic and dramatic scenes were well acted and directed.
In short, this is not the type of movie that will revolutionise filmmaking, or start particularly constructive conversations about relationships and paternity, because it doesn't need to. The Threesome is a good throwback, it remained me of that time in the late 2000s and early 2010s when a lot of raunchy dramedies popped up, with the sole intention of entertain, and this movie entertained me alright.

Also, it's like Knocked Up given the Spinal Tap treatment, 'turned up to eleven'.... Now there are twins!!
The script constantly keeps dropping twist after twist after twist, until the film finishes.
Zoe Deutsch plays the horrendous, selfish, manic pixie girl character that is thoroughly unlikeable throughout and yet we are supposed to have sympathy by the end?...puleeeeez.
The rest of the movie is ok. It's Reasonably well acted but the direction is somewhat perfunctory and lacks real vision.
It's worth a watch but if rom coms are your thing, then When Harry Met Sally is still the goat and Knocked Up are better rounded.

(Please 🙏 listen to us 'haters'! Because trust me I giving it my fair judgement. And I love rom coms as much as the next girl.)
Let me focus on the positive to say the least because there is very few. The actors are extremely goodlooking and it made me do a light ha randomly. But that's it.
The premise is basically a watered down version of knocked up, but make it 2x. But this version is way less funny. And the man is 'madly' in love with one of them. But he's trying his best for the both! He's just some poor guy, man. 🙄 If the writing was focused more in the dynamic of the three, this would've been a very fun film. But they made that more a sub plot. And focused on I don't even know. It was all over the place. This is close to a 2hr film and I can't tell you a single thing about these characters except for surface level stuff. Plus, this movie DRAGS. By the time you're done watching this film, the suspension of belief. It's broken way too many times. And a plot twist becomes extremely predictable. The whole thing feels like I could've made the story with my Sims.
It's just feels like a better quality camera student film. And I have seen my share of those. This tried to be more than what it is too. Save your energy, pick something else.
Someone mentioned this in one of the other reviews: One, there's a bunch of montages actually. But One of the montages is to the characters are dating after the inciting incident. And the film through a montage of changes of seasons, but cut to when they find out that they're pregnant it's only been 6 weeks! How? How it's it possible to go through summer, fall and winter in only a month and a half? What the hell is the timing of this stupid film? It's all over the place.
