Great Fan Bait

These One Shots are really fan bait. Often understated, single concept and great character pieces, these are delightful. I give this short film a 7 (delightful) out of 10. {Marvel Segue}

Come on, there's a level 7?

Agents Coulson and Sitwell meet in a diner to figure out a Level 6 clearance issue.

So this almost definitely started out as course correction. They didn't know exactly how to tie the Cinematic Universe together yet, so when they were doing the post credit scene for The Incredible Hulk, they tried to set up a very straightforward way for the Hulk to end up on the team, and later decided to handle that within the first Avengers movie instead. Well, that leaves this to tie up the loose end. And considering that, it actually is a lot better than you might think. It's essentially mostly people talking, but even this early on the mcu were excellent at dialogue and character interactions. This is 3 and a half minutes long, or three if you don't count the end credits.

This is currently available on the Disney plus streaming service. I recommend it to any fan of the franchise. 7/10.

Marvel One-Shot The Consultant: What the hell was that?

So Agent Coulson and Agent Of Shields Agent Sitwell are in a diner discussing General Ross, we have a 2 minute chat followed by some stock footage featuring Ross & Stark and the credits role.

This is a Marvel One-Shot? It serves no purpose, where is the entertainment value in this? These shorts are supposed to be tiny stories, there is no story here whatsoever.

The casts performances save it to an extent but what the hell was that meant to be?

And furthermore how did this cost half a million dollars to make? It's less than 3 minutes long and is two people chatting + already paid for stock footage. Beyond belief, I can only assume their catering was the stuff of legends.

One for Marvel obsessives and nobody else.

The Good:

Strong performances as always

The Bad:

What was that even meant to be?

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

They wanted arrogant and abrasive yet they didn't call me? Weird.

eh.

I was a bit bored watching this, not going to lie. Its just a conversation that doesn't really tell you anything.

The consultant outdid himself

While this one shot was sort of a quick connection between movies, it doesn't really do much or add to the overall story in any way. It was more to just give a quick reasoning as to why Stark went to Ross in the first place.

I did like the conversation between Coulson and Sitwell. I have always liked Coulson as the straight shooting agent but this flick shows that he has a personality and some humor with him. Sitwell is OK though, as we haven't seen much of him anyway. I did find it interesting that the government wanted to send Blonsky over Banner though. Blonsky is a soldier and Banner was a fugitive so it does sort of make sense that they pick the Abomination over the Hulk, but as Shield knows the real story,it kind of adds as to how exactly the Hulk was actually recruited for the Avengers.

+ Coulson and Sitwell + Quick explanation for Hulk, Avengers and Stark - Didn't add anything for overall story - Not as good as other one shots - Could have possibly done more

Final Score 6.8/10

Ha-ha! Funny!

The Consultant is a short little film from MARVEL starring one of the best characters in the MCU - Agent Coulson. Not much to say here, since it's really short, but honestly... it's funny and smart. Nothing special, of course, but it works for the few minutes it runs, and it's somehow refreshing.

It fits nicely into Phase 1 and adds a bit of charm to the whole SHIELD side-story.

I must type another 199 characters for this review to be accepted and that's why I am writing this long nosense, because I want to publish it but it is a short film and I don't have anything else to add.

Final Score: 6/10.

Yes I love Coulson

Yea, I still love Coulson. Nice little One-Shot that's purely Fan Service. Nice to watch but forgettable. Coulson makes it better so I think a 7/10 is alright.

Nothing much

This Marvel One-Shot features almost nothing other than banter wrapped around a post-credits scene, and it makes me wonder why it wasn't just shot as a post-credits scene itself since it's so short. The aforementioned banter, constrained by its low budget, gives some context to the post-credits scene and pokes fun at Tony Stark's arrogance. For what it is, this (very) short film is an effective way to add some filler to the MCU in the time it's given. It just doesn't amount to much.

Re-watch Review Series MCU - Not required.

*) K Reviews *) ( ( You can see the same thing at the end of "The Incredible Hulk" then why to add this at all? Simply waste of time and energy. If you are re-watching this series then you can skip it as you would have already seen it.

Short pieces that reward fans by further connecting the universe

Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant

During the first phase of the MCU, Marvel released these very short pieces to help bridge some of the other gaps, or connect characters that might have been forgotten about. In the Consultant, there is talk that the Abomination from The Incredible Hulk (2008) was being considered to be an Avenger. Obviously that doesn't happen, but it's cute to see a rerun of Tony Stark's talk with General Ross in the bar from the end of that movie. Comic books are well known for telling vast stories that can last decades, but every once in a while a "one-shot" book will be released just to paint a fuller picture. There are others, and I will review them in the order that they were shown to audiences. This one took place between Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Marvel One-Shots Marathon 2019 #1

"Tony Stark IS The Consultant"

The Consultant (2011) is the first film in the Marvel One-Shots series. Set after the events of Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk, The Consultant explains what happened before the post-credits scene of The Incredible Hulk.

Extra short. Not much there.

Not really necessary. It did connect the two movies together (Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk) and explained why Stark was chosen to go to the general. Which was nice to have that connection. But it didn't add to anything and the information wasn't really needed. It was extra short as well which didn't help. The music took away from it, making it feel cheesy and not very serious. It's always nice to see Agent Coulson in action. But I felt they could have added a lot more to this to make it more of a story. Even some filler scenes would have helped. It just felt cheep and out of place. It needed more.

Great One-Shot

As far as the One-Shots have gone so far chronologically speaking, this is one of the more interesting ones. The majority of this One-Shot is recycled footage; however, this One-Shot adds more depth to the scene that is replayed and answers questions I had when viewing the scene originally, such as why was "X" character sent to have that conversation rather than character "Y"? It also provides more information about the whereabouts of another character that was left on a bit of a cliffhanger. Solid One-Shot with humor and extra information for anyone rewatching the MCU looking for connections and information between movies for a full picture of the universe as a whole.
