Avis à la une
While I wouldn't be quite as harsh as the other reviews as at 6th Aprin '24, I have to say that on the whole the series was very disappointing. The main character is completely unlikeable but not in a good or interesting way. The hallucinations are stupid from the start and then just annoying soon after. Most of her actions can be seen coming a mile away. The story is incomplete, setting it up for series 2 but I won't be wasting my time. I suggest that you don't waste yours. { Apparently a review must have a minimum of six hundred characters - I have no idea why but here goes: I like a number of Scandinavian authors and Scandinavian TV series but this one is well below par! )
I enjoyed this series: the setting, characters and story line were all interesting. The plot centres on a cold case from 16 years earlier involving the disappearance of a local Malmo teenager. A lead investigator, Iris (played by Sofia Helin) is brought in from Stockholm to work with the local team which leads to some tensions. As the drama unfolds it becomes clear that all is not well with Iris, and her back story is slowly revealed through the series.
I thought that Sofia Helin was marvellous in the lead role, and the supporting roles were all well cast and well played. The murder investigation unfolded in a believable manner, and the various subplots added interest, especially that of Iris's relationship with her sister.
I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys Scandinavian crime shows.

Great cast, many well known Swedish actors. The plot is initally interesting. Good characters that each bring something to the storyline. A few episodes in something happens with the whole show. In one episode everything just fell apart. The story was unfolding really quickly without any explanation. The detectives came to conclusions that had no ground. Like fast forwarding without explanation.
We stopped watching all together. It was really weird , did they change production team, directors, or did they run out of budget? I can't believe that the script and the plot was written like that.
Very disappointing and unusual.

The mostly negative reviews for this series just go to show that we are all very different: I absolutely loved this and I am only disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a second season. If you expect something with lots of violence, car chases and guns, then this won't be for you. I mean, how many 'crime' series are there where only one shot in total is fired - and that is in the last episode and only goes through a window? And yet I was absolutely glued to it. It's not perfect and there are one or two cringe moments, but for me, the characters, 'ordinary' as they are, but struggling with extraordinary situations, were totally believable and beautifully drawn. Clearly not written for the big screen but television; in my opinion, this is actually one of its strengths. I was left with wanting more. In all, a wonderful series, showing how flawed, complex and human we all are.
I thought Scandinavian children were supposed to be these sociable, respectful and independent creatures, but here they are entitled, spoiled and seemingly helpless. Not to mention rude, disrespectful and petulant. The examples of parenting shown make it clear why- they're not much different- leaving small kis alone to go riding on the beach?! I get the free- range concept, but it should start when the kid is only enough to reach the light switch.
There are few likeable characters and most are very punchable- especially Kirsten and Liv. Nasty cows, both of them.
The story is disjointed and does not really make it very clear as to how people got into these situation- I guess they're trying to build suspense, but it just comes across as lazy and annoying.
I was disappointed because I recognized several actors from other GOOD shows and wonder how badly they must have needed a paycheck.
The lack of attention to details, logic, correct police procedures and storyline flow delegates this to amateur level. The beach house is nice, though.
