Part 1

At the start of their patrol, the sub comes under attack by a RAF aircraft. The aircraft shown is a Harvard trainer, still in its trainer livery (bright yellow) and would have been unarmed. Also, a RAF aircraft would not have been attacking a submarine off the coast of France, it would have been from Coastal Command. And, a Harvard would not have the range to get to La Rochelle.
