Avis à la une
BOL(speak up) doesn't speak, it screams. This movie has got brilliant feedbacks from people living inside or outside Pakistan but one must not be mistaken by considering this movie all about religion. No, its not. In fact this movie is about social problems of Pakistani society rather than their misconception of the religious. There is a very thin line between these two things and people living outside Pakistan may take it in a wrong way. The lead character (father) is not depicting a "muslim father", in fact he is depicting an illiterate and socially sick person who can be found in any religion or in any society. It is a hardcore movie and the pros of the movie are its story, performances of lead roles and last but not the least the director. On the other side there are many cons of the movie i-e publicity gimmick of including Atif Aslam in the cast who can hardly deliver a single dialogue. At time the movie seems too loud to be realistic. Some of the scenes are too bold that you may feel awkward if watching with your family. The director failed to differentiate the social issues and religious issues and viewers get the feeling that the movie is all against the religion which is not the case. But still this is a very good effort and a movie that needs to be seen by everyone once at least. My rating is 7/10.
The movie was really an experience and the type that lingers on long after you have left the theatre. I must admit that this is Pakistani cinema at its best. On one hand the movie effortlessly touches upon social issues prevailing in any society and on the other the acting by everyone in the movie is par excellence. There were numerous moments in the movie when we had tears in our eyes and quite a few when we couldn't control our laughter.
I would also like to mention that the references to Tendulkar and Meena Kumari are really note worthy and the director/producer deserves applause.
Please do see the movie if you are a connoisseur of good unadulterated cinema.

There is no doubt that. It was almost perfect in everything. Its even one of the best movie I have ever seen. Only a few can be considered better than this (and, of course, all from Hollywood).
I bet this movie will do great business if they manage to release to a larger audience in India, middle east, UK and USA. This should at least be nominated for Oscars. I am proud for what Shoaib Mansoor has done for lifting Pakistan's name by his movies. He is a true legend. His work for media industry has been tremendous and luckily he was awarded for his work by Sitar-e-Imtiaz, even before he made his two movies.
No soul in Pakistan should deprive themselves for watching this movie in theater.

Your eyes well up as the narrative unfolds,as the protagonists fall into a trap one after the other & life becomes mesh of complexities, there's frustration and sweat on your face and a sense of helplessness resonating from the 70mm screen... Just how many times has this happened to you while watching a movie, as tears roll down your cheeks, you just let them flow & experience the cinematic brilliance on portrayal..
Shoab Mansoor's "Bol" is one such hard-hitting, rock solid film that wakes u up from d slumbers & u witness d harsh realities of an impoverished Muslim household where the preference for male child leads to 7 daughters being born & thus begins dere journey into d world of poverty & disdain. Debutant Hummaima Malick & Manzar Sehbai's stellar performances & a great script were the perfect setting Bol... Atif Aslam needs to work a lot on his dialogue delivery and his best in d movie comes only in d song-Hona Tha Pyaar.. Mahirah Khan is decent in d screen presence but the starlet here is Hummaima. Hope she has a role to play in Indian Cinema too.. The movie's already reached a cult status but is for the afficianados & d film buffs. Deserves a 4/5.. Go for this one,its a touching tale..

'BOL' I would say is a must watch! The movie proceeds with an impressive narration and powerful storyline.
Humaima Malick is just awesome as the protagonist and also, all the other characters who are equally worth a mention! The issues that the movie tries to deliberately bring up, is definitely a bold step ahead given that the backdrop is set in Pakistan. And 'Hona tha pyar' is a wonderful song..I just keep humming it over and over again...
Not the usual kind of commercial spicy Bollywood flick, but some real good cinema!!
I would rate it as 9 out of 10! :)
