Awaken

This message of this movie doesn't really match how the movie was carried out. The soundtrack was overused with continuous piano in several scenes lending to a melodramatic feel. Instead of letting the viewer come to a conclusion, the music insists you must feel this way about the story. To me it was depressing at these points of the movie and it overtook the movie.

The actors did a good job. The cinematography was just right for the dream scenes. I appreciate that some things were left to the viewer to come to understand rather than being explained (how the shop owner dressed). I think the movie should have went on more at the end to show things coming to fruition for the shop owner, and thus, not having the movie be so dark.

The movie could've been family friendly, with a change of a couple scenes. Very small things - an in-bed scene with cleavage and suggestive position, and just a couple curse words. Otherwise, it's pretty clean and nonviolent, which is appreciated.

I would've enjoyed the movie without the overpowering soundtrack and if the focus was changed a bit especially at the end.

The genre is listed as Drama, Romance, and Sci-fi and that's a odd combination illustrated well with this movie! If you feel like watching any of the above genres, this is a fine pick with enjoyable actors.

Does the woman of your dreams even exist? Is love deep enough to transcend waking reality and sleeping dreamland? Awaken takes you on a fascinating journey unlike anything you've seen. Female lead Rachel Arai (Jordan Ladd) is actually killed off very early in the movie after appearing to Alex Hahn (Corey Sevier) at his coffee shop. He doesn't know her, but senses he does know her somehow. At night, she starts appearing in his dreams. Intrigued, he explores dreams you can actually control called lucid dreaming. Through these dreams, he's able to find her (although in real life she's deceased) and begin a relationship with her.

We soon learn these dreams are composed of their mutual memories - his present day, hers three years prior when when she suffered a coma. In those three post-coma years, Rachel became a famous singer and reveals in an interview she had met her perfect mate in the past.

In these lucid dreams, Alex and Rachel fall in love. They can go anywhere and do anything. There's so much chemistry between these lovers. Is this all real? They believe it is, but Rachel doesn't know she's dreaming. Alex knows she will awaken from her coma in mere days so he tries to manipulate the dream events. Will the cold hard facts of life and death and the space/time continuum doom their love? This is not your average love story, but I found it truly unique and fascinating to the very end.

A little odd and confusing in the beginning because it takes a while to develop, but once you understand what's going on, it's pretty powerful. There is great chemistry between Jordon Ladd and Corey Sevier. You will certainly want to watch this more than once.

I don't really have anything against this show, but it did seem a bit bland. It was interesting enough with the concept of the story, and the acting wasn't so bad, but I just didn't get the 'kick' out of it.

The characters felt a bit too directed, like "Here is a man and a woman. Now fall in love". But the back story did make it more believable.

I'm guessing the moral of this film is to believe in your dreams, and it was pretty cool how the film makers made it literal.

Don't really know what to say about this film. Interesting but bland.

This is an epic and truly original movie. I still remember when it was first released and I had the opportunity to share my thoughts about it with the director. Six years later and it's still as moving as it was then. I won't list any spoilers for those who haven't already seen it. But, it'll bring tears to your eyes watching the journey from the end to the beginning. Sometimes love is momentary. Sometimes the moment is all you have. And, sometimes the moment can be everything. Watch this one with a loved one and enjoy it.
