Now that we're stuck in the house due to the pandemic, I've been watching tv. I just learned about this show and thought it was new. I've been checking back for a new episode and just learned this show is from 2012! I'm bummed. I really like the show. Some of the acting could be better but, overall, the show is good. Wish there were more episodes. I was looking forward to seeing where the relationship would go. Oh well.
I absolutely love this show! Lots of quick wit and very funny! It's at a hard time to watch so I DVR it and catch up on it later. I think if it was at a better time it would be watched by so many more people. I really hope it makes it through all the cuts! The dynamic between the two leads is spot on. All the supporting characters just hammer it home. This is one of the shows I look forward to watching each week. There is enough side stories going on in it to keep it fresh. Such as the lovable crazy old dad and the construction workers. If it makes it through to future seasons I can't wait to see what comes once they're done working on this main house! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Alex Meyers (Amanda Peet) is a divorced lawyer with daughter Charlie (Joey King). She's looking to renovate her kitchen. She hires Pete Riggins (David Walton) and his haphazard crew; Clem (J.B. Smoove), Vlad (Pasha D. Lychnikoff), and rookie Gary (Jesse Plemons). In her life, Alex has boyfriend Ben (Matt Letscher), sister Screwsie (Margo Harshman), and father Walt Riggins (Jeffrey Tambor).
This is the traditional sitcom of a smart hot gal who's looking for love. All the standard characters are here. They are played by good likable actors. But the writing is just not up to snuff. There aren't enough jokes. There are only 6 episodes. It never found it's voice. Maybe the concept was professionally written up by veterans but they definitely needed better writers to tighten up the scripts.

This show is definitely looking very promising with actors like Amanda Peet(whom i totally loved in "A lot like love" & "Somethings gotta give"), Jeffrey Tambor(Arrested development), David Walton and Jesse Plemons(a big fan of "Friday night lights"). I loved the Pilot and the episode that followed and hope that it keeps getting better. The script is well written and the actors are up to the job. There are few lovely kind of romantic and comic moments which makes this show special. Can only wish for this show to be widely appreciated and watched cuz it deserves it. Would love to see more than 6 episodes which is not enough to develop the storyline.
This has crisp writing, excellent performances; in short it's thoroughly enjoyable and I'm so glad I managed to catch it before it disappeared. I should have realized that anything NBC tried to bury in their schedule with absolutely no promotion would be vastly superior to any of their other freshmen comedies that made it onto the main schedule (Free Agents, Whitney - are you kidding, and while I love Christina Applegate let's not kid ourselves that Up All Night is a worthy successor to Samatha Who ). Shame on NBC for not promoting this and if you had a clue ( but we know you don't ) you'd slot this in after the Voice or at least *mention* it when people are actually watching your network.
