Sitting Bull

Thos program is riddled with numerous historical inaccuracies and errors, The Battle of the Little Bighorn is poorly done, and the depiction of General Custer is terrible. Sitting Bull himself is portrayed by an actor who looks nothing like Sitting Bull. There also numerous examples of "modern politics" in the show. The battles and quality feel like they are out of the 1950s or 60s. The talking heads, except fpr two of them, have no clue what they are talking about. I had little hope for this, as a student of the history of the American West, and ot turned out to be even worse than I thought it would be. Whatever ypu do, please do not waste your time with this garbage.

I believe the one star review offers a perspective of that reviewer, a professed historian of the West. I do not profess to be an expert, but have spent many years visiting and learning about this conflict. It's focus is on Sitting Bull, his leadership, his wisdom, his failures. In my opinion, this documentary is extremely fair and well done.

The show follows the life of the legendary leader of the Lakota tribe. His struggles to keep his people free and alive. His resistance movement was impressive, as he had to deal with shiftting policies of the US government. The re enacting of various events were quite good for these types of documentaries. The expert historians were very helpful in explaining the events and touching on the attitudes of those times. Overall well done, although some of the acting was a bit below par, but overall served the purpose and goal of the series.
