Dark Rising: The Savage Tales of Summer Vale

I have sat through two Dark Rising movies and several episodes of this Dark Rising TV series as well, there is also another series and maybe another movie unbelievably but I have had enough of this show. It was fun while it lasted to watch this story and make fun of it, the acting is the worst and whoever wrote it is either obviously making fun of us by having such a stupid story or they are your typical pothead grinding out script after script and actually thinking it is good. The lead is a good looking girl with very large boobs and they cram her into tight outfits and have her fight. The show might be OK except she also has to act which she can't do very well but then again neither can anyone else in this show. That is too harsh she's actually not a bad actress don't get me wrong, compared to most other token hot girls in shows she is average at worst but she won't be winning any awards. It's also hard to tell how bad the actors are when the lines they have to say are so horrible. I can't believe they actually got Michael Ironsides to be in this but I guess everybody has their price and needs rent money from time to time. The second movie is even stupider in fact from the first movie which was also terrible the quality has only gone downhill except for the quality of the special effects which gets better. Anyway don't waste your time on this unless you're sitting around with a few friends and want to laugh at how bad something is.

I know the television series is still going, but from the episodes I have seen, I love this series! It's funny, sexy and kicks butt! I was a big fan of Dark Rising and when I heard there was a television series coming out I was definitely excited! I was drawn in from the first episode!

Also Ron Sparks makes a cameo in it where he plays a soldier with a M16 which is so funny! Also all the new futuristic weapons and portals and stuff I really like! Even though the first film was more a deserted forest, this new sci-fi feel is pretty cool! The television is a good adaptation from the movie and is very entertaining! Also it sets you up for the sequel that is coming out this year!

This television series is very well done and a proud Canadian production which is just even better! Definitely a series you will have to check out!

The acting and writing of this show is below par but the show delivers what it promises, campy fun with cheesy fights and a busty demon huntress who wears very tight or revealing shirts. This show is obviously trying to cash in on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer model and does a relatively good job for what must be a very low budget show. When you consider that it is also impressive that this show has some very good CGI in it, much better than you would expect in most low budget Canadian TV shows. Some of it seems a bit dodgy, like the laser bars in their prison cells, but most of it is as good quality as you would expect in most Hollywood movies, not something like Avatar but you know what I mean. It doesn't deliver as much as Buffy or Firefly but if you don't expect serious scifi and want a bit of fun campiness Summer Vale delivers!
