My Introduction To The Purple Dinosaur

Before he was a breakout star on PBS, Barney the Dinosaur, the famous educational star every tot loves and every older kid and adult loves to bash on internet, whether making spoof songs about Barney facing a gruesome end or making parodies for shows and cartoons poking fun at him. This video is the one that introduced me to this pop culture icon.

In this video, young Tina is bored and breaks into song about how she wishes there was school every day (wow, what kid wants to wish for school every day of the week?). After that, Barney grants her wish as he uses his power of imagination to warp her and her friends to school to have fun.

This video is a nice one for preschoolers, and can even be seen as a sort of pilot for Barney & Friends, as this special not only introduces a school setting used for the first few seasons, but also the Barney suit tots would be used to (earlier films had a different Barney suit that was a darker purple). The songs are neat, and preschoolers will have fun with Barney.
